2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumLooking for proof Bernie is not the best for Everyone
Been reading here, a lot.
Have seen lots of swipes at Bernie and his supporters trying to make Bernie look bad.
But have not seen one item of proof that Bernie is not the best candidate for ALL people.
But have seen lots of proof that he is the best.
So here is an invite to those who hate Bernie to post proof that he is not the best.
(I have a feeling there will be few replies)
blm
(113,131 posts)It will be best for ALL people and that is why GOP will fight so hard against it.
Should warmongers dominate the debate with THEIR narrative the next 2 months they will own the foreign policy debate in 2016.
Primary skirmishes will seem so quaint by then.
IMO, of course.

(13,685 posts)Kerry has done a marvelous job. And with lots of help from Obama. So, of course the gop is pissing themselves, because they hate progress and peace.

(13,685 posts)I want no more nuke power plants on this fragile Earth.
And want to see all existing nuke power plants shut down and the waste that is sitting around taken care of yesterday.
So, to me, this idea that the system is somehow approving nukes anywhere is abhorrent.
For me to jump in and join the battle for allowing nukes anywhere would make me hypocritical. So......... don't count me in.

(13,685 posts)Bernie is the best for ALL people. Thanks.

(27,787 posts)I'm not saying you are a clown.
Cause that would be mean.
btw ... do you have any links to these attacks, or not?
RobertEarl
(13,685 posts)Not playing your games.
This is how it works: The OP asks a question and you don't even try to answer it, therefore you are playing a game, and so you are being otherwise ignored.
mythology
(9,527 posts)You're basically asking when did somebody stop beating their wife with your "question".
Barney Frank wrote an article explaining why, in his view, progressives shouldn't vote for Sanders. You might want to read it, although I'm reasonably sure you'd dismiss it out of hand like have done with everything else.
I get it. You like Sanders, but you're coming across a lot like the woman who said to Adlai Stevensen that all thinking voters would vote for him and his reply was that wasn't enough, he needed a majority.
JoePhilly
(27,787 posts)... now ... if the OP is serious ... he can easily back up his initial premise, and provide links.
Which he can not do, because it is BS.

(19,877 posts)Some here literally spend 24/7 trashing Hillary for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and then lose their shit ovee any critique of Bernie.

(13,685 posts)The posts about if you are a banker or a warmonger; Bernie is not good for you, is proof Bernie is not good for all people.
I asked a question and got real answers. Bernie is not good for all people. But for the rest of us......???
JoePhilly
(27,787 posts)Either you have that proof, or you don't.
Check your over-sized shoes, maybe its there.
RobertEarl
(13,685 posts)Apparently for the first time.
The word I used was swipes, and somehow you have it in your head that the word is 'attack' even as you take swipes at this Bernie supporter..
JoePhilly
(27,787 posts)And no one should take you seriously until you do so.
And I'm not deleting anything.
You might want to delete your OP, and start over.

JoePhilly
(27,787 posts)And I'm being specific here ... swipes at Bernie.
See ... what I see is that some of his loudest and angriest supporters are the ones making him look bad.
So please ... can you help me ... provide some links to the OPs that are attacking Bernie so unfairly.
Thanks.

(13,685 posts)If you are a warmonger/profiteer, Bernie is probably not good for you.

(9,289 posts)His supporters are mostly white progressives and we all know what they are like.
He reduces social justice to economic justice.
He thinks the civil rights movement hasn't changed since the 1960s.
He doesn't listen.
He's old and white.
His performance at the netroots event was miserable.
His cholesterol is too high from eating too much Ben n Jerrys.
His supporters harass black voters and also can't dance worth a shit.
His supporters suck.
He hasn't done anything for blacks since he marched with MLK.
Did I mention that his supporters suck?
Even if he is the best candidate for ALL people, his supporters suck and so I will not vote for him.
According to #Berniessoblack, he is so black that he NEVER forgot about Dre--wait, I guess that is a reason to vote for him.

(53,112 posts)You do not have "proof" of what is the best candidate for everyone else. You know who YOU like. Each voters makes that decision themselves, and they don't need to provide proof of anything.
You seem to assume that supporting Sanders is a default position, that people have to come up with reasons not to support him. That is no more true for him than any other candidate. No one is owed votes. Candidates have to earn them.
ibegurpard

(27,787 posts)... I was getting my own personal internet stalker ... bummer.
RobertEarl
(13,685 posts)10 posts in this thread and not a one of them about the OP.
I tried to warn you, via pm, that you would do such a thing.
And then you cal me a stalker. Still looking in the mirror, joe?
As we have seen, the only people Bernie is not best for are the 1%. I am sure you agree.
JoePhilly
(27,787 posts)I think I called you a "potential stalker" ... and I was sad that it might not be true. I used to have one. And you probably do not want to push this point, as your PMs were not flattering for you.
Past that ...
And I may have said this somewhere else in this thread .. if Bernie wins the primary, I will enthusiastically vote for him. I would have voted for Obama or Hillary just as enthusiastically. I wonder if would say the same.
My issue list with Bernie is short.
1) I am not convinced he can win the General Election. And above everything else, keeping the GOP out of the white house comes first. And so, if this bar is not met, the rest is moot.
2) While I agree with Bernie on most issues (gun control not so much), I do not want a President who will get nothing done because they can not figure out how to make progress. This is important. Bill and Hillary tried to improve the health care situation and failed. Obama made it happen. Obama figured out how to navigate that space. Hillary failed in the 90s. But my sense is she's leaned from that. I'm not sure Bernie has. I do not want an ideologue who gets nothing done, as President. And so, Bernie has to demonstrate that he will not just hold the right positions, but that he can actually make some progress.
Because if he can't make actual progress, he's not "the best".
RobertEarl
(13,685 posts)And you finally had an honest response!!
Well, half honest..... anyway.... the Bernie supporters are gonna make stuff happen. Bernie even says so. He even said that was what Obama failed at doing. Obama deserted the force and went off on his own. Bernie says he is gonna depend on us. And that, 11 post Joe, as you should know, is how stuff gets done. By the People, for the People.
RobertEarl
(13,685 posts)If you want to resume the way Bill Clinton worked so closely with the republicans in passing the end of welfare, and ending Glass/Steagal, then Bernie is not for you.
If you want to continue 'Big Money' politics as we know it, Bernie is not for you.
Obama stuffed it back on the republicans. He did not work with them. Obama has run around them and made them look like the fools they are. And that's probably why all their 'Impeach' talk went nowhere.
OTOH, they nailed Clinton because he merely played with them.
RobertEarl
(13,685 posts)You are free to post it here.

(19,877 posts)White bougie progressives from Salon, to Common Dreams, to Firedoglake, to Bernie himself, spent Obama's entire term bashing him, or blocking him, or never giving him credit for anything, and now they're begging for Obama's massive coalition? On top of that, they now seem to want to lecture voters on how and who to vote for, because they know best.
JoePhilly
(27,787 posts)The perpetually disgruntled who have attacked Obama to no end ... have raced to Bernie ... and I also do wonder if their adoption of Bernie is about Bernie ... or about their hate of Obama/Hillary.

(27,670 posts)Her slipping in the polls is not a fluke. The facts are showing that she has a lot of nasty baggage even in the social justice area, where some, erroneously, believe her strengths lie.

(94,926 posts)Tracking along consistently at 57% (where she's been for the past year) and polling HIGHER then she did in 2008 when all of the "nasty baggage" came out. Add to which, with the exception of the Q poll which most people acknowledge was balanced strangely between Ds and Rs, she continues to outpoll every Republican.
RobertEarl
(13,685 posts)That how much money can be raised is an indication of electability.
That's why Bernie is again the best candidate. Because his campaign is not about money, and that is the kind of change we need in our elections..
