But until then, he's my first choice. For one reason, his civil rights record is unmatched by any other candidate, including Hillary.

I will happily vote for whomever gets the Primary Nomination, but I sure hope it's Bernie.

the most absurd thing about the MM/BLM dustup is that of the three candidates who were invited to NN, Hillary was a no-show and has questionable (Third Way) civil rights credentials, O'Malley has a major blemish from his time as Mayor of Baltimore:

Sgt. Louis H. Hopson, who has worked at the Baltimore Police Department for 35 years and is a board member of the Vanguard Justice Society, an influential association of Baltimore African-American police officers, charges that O’Malley didn’t know what to do about race relations when he was the city’s mayor from 1999 to 2007. O’Malley was then elected Maryland governor twice.

Whereas Bernie has a stellar record on civil rights, he's rated 93% by the ACLU, indicating a pro-civil rights voting record, rated 97% by the NAACP, indicating a pro-affirmative-action stance, and 100% by the HRC, indicating a pro-gay-rights stance...:

It makes absolutely NO sense for Bernie to be taking the brunt of the NN/BLM wrath. None.

That said, at the same time I DO think Team Bernie can learn from this, grow from this, to more fully embrace this issue of blacks being gunned down in our streets by out of control cops. Bernie has already been doing this, making sure that's a forceful part of his message, and my hunch and hope is he will survive it and be stronger for it.

I fully support BLM's having a voice, in fact I think they should have their own candidates' forum, a major deal, to focus on their rightful concerns about blacks being targeted, brutalized and shot down by police for no reason, not to mention the incarceration rate of blacks being WAY out of proportion to other ethnic groups.

I stand corrected, and I'm not being sarcastic.

I was admittedly a bit beside myself, in that flurry of attacks on Bernie, insinuating that
he is somehow a 'racist', so much so, that I somehow was blinded to your Hillary thingy,
so the gracious intent of your OP was temporarily invisible as well.

I owe you this apology.

Thank you for your OP, I'm going to remember this down the road, when Hillary is Being
unfairly maligned so unfairly for a "position" she doesn't even have.

As can the foolish persons who believe the racism can be raptured out of a predatory set of institutions and systems organization for the advancement of the delusional.

As can the forced birther fake pro life like black lives matter until it isn't a big to do for a passionate outcry and is instead the day in day out grind of the struggle to make it while staying out of the system and then it is that doesn't matter Oprah got tailed in the store.
Your kids education, ability to care for them, to maintain a place to live, the shakedowns fueled out of control by the stupid and failed drug war and militarization while roiding up the whole mess on "TERRAHHH" anti civil liberties absurdity, cutting services, letting the infrastructure crumble, liquidation of the commons, crushing of labor, treasury busting (and therefore government hogtied) interventions, corporate dominion (the same fucks that bank rolled and profited off Atwater, Rove, and yes the DLC and it's spawn and spinnoff), poisoning the very air and water all can keep coming and more pretty please and black lives matter? How? Who is going to take the brunt of all that downside even if Rock is never fucked with by the police ever again unless he is a clear and present danger to himself and other rich folks or Gawd forbid the wealthy people that sign their paychecks.

How many less lives would be chewed up perhaps forever by a legal system meant to chew up the black man, bust up the family, inject crime into communities, and increase poverty with the ability to hire competent representation? Is some naive fuck going to try to pitch us that money and connections that come with getting and maintaining cashflowability don't matter other than of course when we see the seemingly ever more common just blasting on sight of darker than a tan Crayola with tight hair like stormtroopers around a wookiee that has gotten loose from his cuffs, which I fully grant.
Point is, if you get past the intial swallow then resources make a significant difference and every bit counts, even a cheap hack trumps a PD 9 out of 10 times (maybe 7 in the best of localities and that is of equal or better talent, that is how slanted the table is.

To the AA community. I want other AAs to feel as comfortable with a Bernie Sanders' presidency as I do.

It CAN happen!
