2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumThe last few days have given me heartburn here
On the one hand, I wish some Bernie supporters would stop telling black people what's good for them - it's embarrassing and not helpful in the slightest to winning over the AA vote. I suggest sitting back and listening outside of DU without the helpful explanation of what's wrong with their version of Manhattan. There are AA Bernie supporters here that I would suggest allowing to run point if you feel you must.
On the other hand, I'm annoyed and/or amused at the Rachel Dolezalization of DU; miraculously all of these Hillary supporters are now the spokesmen for BLM.
I went back today to read threads on BLM shutting down highways and at least a few people are consistent on their stances about BLM protests.
And with that, another thread on this topic has entered the sphere.

(92,482 posts)express different views. I do not think anyone is telling anyone what is good for them as much as they are expressing their view.
I agree with your Racial(Rachel) Delegalization of DU observation, though I would add that I suspect that is not unique to Hillary supporters, but include folks supporting other candidates as well.
One thing I would like to see, and maybe I missed it, is either someone who attended the town hall, or someone from BLM to relate their perspective of the recent events.
Otherwise, I suspect most of us will sit as Monday morning quarterbacks

(9,002 posts)It's devolved into trolling "the other side" and plotting various "revenge schemes."
That's fine if that's what the community wants but at least be honest about it. The self important walls of text that have no point but to troll the "enemy" and receive high fives from "their team" don't make this a discussion board; it makes it the old Meta forum. (which looking back actually served a valuable function)
And yes I won't argue that Dolezalization is limited to one group but the last few days is the focus of my OP.

(92,482 posts)if most on DU have that mindset or just a small fraction who happen to make the most noise.
After the primaries are over we better become united.

You have a problem with those of us (and I am NOT A HILLARY SUPPORTER) who call out those who want to tell black people how and when they may protest? Really? You want to mock us as if we're Rachel D? You might want to rethink that.
How is it, those of us who support Martin O'Malley didn't have a freaking meltdown over the weekend?
Why is that?
Why is it the OWS and Codepink and Greenpeace can get support on DU but black protestors who are in extreme pain get trashed cause some Bernie supporters are butthurt they wore their Robinhood hats to a fringe convention and didn't get to hear their hero's canned stump speech.
Blah!
Edit- and I've also said on DU I am actually ambivalent about the BLM protest this weekend.
But they need media exposure and they grabbed it in an easy to penetrate venue the same way Bernie Sanders might have done 50 years ago.
EDit 2- I don't even know if the protestors were actually protesting the 2 candidates as much as trying to express their frustration and anger and get heard.

(57,349 posts)Asking both sides to stop and consider how their actions are affecting others is not an attack.
Jesus Christ.
Way to miss the point and make it all about you.

(10,893 posts)it's fine to have Black issues overshadowed as well as hold Pres. O's feet to the fire, but not their preferred 2016 candidate. Posters on DKos framed the BLM protests as "attacking allies", which I found to be strange since whenever Obama got heckled/interrupted over the years, these same people talked about him needing to be challenged and the voices of the protestors at his events needing to be heard.

The op is being equally critical.

(43,870 posts)the difference is no Clinton supporter actually believes he/she is their spokesman. All of them I've read are giving their opinions on the situation.
Progressive supporters of outsider candidates (not just referring to Sanders) honestly believe they know what's best for people.
