(3,041 posts)DU is just getting warmed up, this is pretty tame. And Hillary is not only out of touch, but secretive - she clearly did not want the reporters to hear and report on her answers to constituents' questions. Would Bernie have minded? I think not. When you always tell the truth you don't have to worry so much about how your responses to questions will be reported and what difficulties it may cause you.

I don't like any of it, frankly, and if I were you, I would start another OP and answer anything you consider to be a false claim against the candidate you support there.
If you have facts to counter smears and lies then there is nothing to worry about, it's just an opportunity to promote your candidate.
Think how much better campaigns would be if everyone just talked about issues.

(30,058 posts)Why do they receive protection? RFK was killed while campaigning. George Wallace was shot while campaigning. Other declared candidates also gets protection.
Why doesn't the press get more access, because the questions about Benghazi and emails are stupid over and over questions.
Duckhunter935
(16,974 posts)I might be wrong but I do not think they all get protection yet. She does by her being a previous First Lady. If she would do answer to the press once and awhile, those questions would go away. How many press questions has she taken since she announced? Maybe a dozen in these months?

The the Benghazi protestors? Yes, that is republican nonsense. The e-mail issue may not be, but Benghazi is so over. I don't believe for a minute that Clinton did anything wrong regarding Benghazi. I do wish however, that her emails regarding her job were all in the public domain.

Even in the article they are pushing in this thread, she only stopped to talk to wounded marine. She did not even acknowledge the supporters that tried to drown out the protesters. She needs to open up to the press and answer every question they can possibly ask. They will get tired and stop. They hound her now because she is never available to them. She ropes them off and then runs away.

Anytime she walked over the shake a hand or kiss a baby, the Secret Service would have been RIGHT beside her. This is NOT what's displayed by this picture. It appears to be a "Queen" too proper to mingle with the common-folks.

Then he said campaign aides unfurled a rope that stretched across the street, blocking access to the candidate. Rucker said they were kept 10 to 15 feet away from Clinton and could no longer hear what she was saying to people.
But the press could clearly hear what some people were saying to her. A group of protesters followed her along the route shouting such sentiments as "What about Benghazi?" and "Show us your e-mails!"

(1,713 posts)The Clintons innovated a new style of politics so cynical that "parsing" became the popular fashion of the day, trying to wring a nugget of truth out of the web of deceptions that came out of both of them. This, as with the rest of her extensive inventory of baggage, is part of the poison you pick when you back her.
Even in the specific this situation is her own fault for starving the press of answers. It's crazy that a Presidential candidate won't take questions from the press for weeks at a time. As Truman noted, if you can't take the heat you should stay out of the kitchen.

The repub's Mighty Wurlitzer is undergoing its scheduled maintenance, and they've already got tunes picked out for her, for Sanders, for O'Malley, for Chafee, and for anyone else who might dare run against their eventual drooling, staggering idiot of choice.
That said, the press are idiots. She's not going to reveal any great policy initiatives, her deepest feelings about Iraq or the TPP, or the secrets of the Rosicrucians during a one-and-a-half second handshake where the deepest the conversation will ever get is "How are you? Thanks for coming!"
They could cover her appearance (or any politician's appearance in a parade) from a helicopter, for all it matters. At least then, they'd have a good vantage point for when the candidate is accidentally run over by the Shriner's Mini-Cars when the candidate stops the parade to schmooze.
