....to run as an Independent is how you lose the White House.
Seriously, Hillary, O'Malley, Chaffee whoever, should be out there screaming that Bernie is allowed as a D on all ballots. Beat him fairly, don't create something that is going to come back to bite you in the General.

(11,785 posts)All the "concern" is just a way to remind us that Bernie Is Not One Of Us.

(14,915 posts)that if this were to become a reality, then Hillary et all need to make noise that EVERYBODY running in our primary needs to be on the ballot.

(17,064 posts)and repeated here by several concern trolls. The DNC and NH Dem Party have called for him to be on the ballot.

(45,562 posts)might grouse about Sanders, the DNC will force them to fall in line and include all the candidates. All the nail biting and wailing about this on DU is becoming comical. Hasn't anyone paid attention to politics before?

(12,041 posts)If they keep Bernie off the ballot however my plans will likely change, if the Democrats want my vote in the general they need to allow a fair vote in the primary. I can plug my nose and vote for a candidate who I am not a fan of if it keeps the Republican out, but I can't vote for a candidate who did not win the primary fairly.

I doubt it will happen, he has far too much support at this point and it would become a scandal as Bernie's supporters are extremely active and will make sure that entire country knows what happened. That alone should ensure that he is on every ballot.

(7,061 posts)Presidential nomination, should dot the electoral "i"s and cross the electoral "t"s. It's an election, not a coronation. There are rules. Hillary didn't make them; New Hampshire did--years ago.

(14,915 posts)Raine1967, you can answer the question.

(62,325 posts)it is important to let it be known right now that if anyone is planning such a thing, they need to forget it now. Better to preempt disasters than try to deal with them after the fact.

(9,070 posts)there are decades old laws in states like NH, NY, and KY. Regardless, they prevent candidates from running as fusion candidates (more than one party) or switching back and forth.
In NH, you have to sign a sworn statement that you are registered as a __________. Bernie cannot sign that at this time (maybe).
It has nothing to do with Hillary, the Democratic party, or any other conspiracies.
NH's Secretary of State, election board, etc. will decide if Bernie can be on the primary ballot as a Democrat.

Joe the Revelator
(14,915 posts)I'm saying that if that is the case, then other candidates need to speak up and state that he needs to be allowed on the primary ballot.
For example:
Sancho
(9,070 posts)state laws make sense for those states. That's why they passed them.
Other candidates can jump in (3 or 4 Democrats, a dozen or more Republicans, Green, Socialist, etc.). If they oppose Sanders they would be accused of dirty politics.
If they think Sanders should be in, they may be accused of playing some games with Tea Party challengers, etc. Think about it - if you let a "socialist/independent" on the Democratic ticket just because they want to declare "I'm a Democrat", then any libertarian, Tea Party candidate, Green candidate, or whatever could ALSO declare they were Democrats. Hell, you might have 45 Democrats?!?!
Regardless, they won't know if he's on the ballot or not before October or later.
