(17,399 posts)lined up behind Sanders here. It would actually surprise me to see a persistent critic of the administration get behind Hillary.
Sheepshank
(12,504 posts)A majority of Bernie supporters never were behind Obama. If fact they use Obama's policies as a bludgeon against Hillary.
Why are so many attempting to rewrite history?
Could it be an attempt to sway voters the way sometimes Polls are used? I think so. Any one else remember all of those polls trying to drum up support for Romney because he was supposedly so popular, and everyone wants to be on a winning team? Right? Well, it didn't work then either.

(10,565 posts)The place where the sun don't shine. It is my experience that the bernistas are the most critical of Obama. Bernistas have called him a used car salesman- a piece of sh##- republican lite- pretty brutal stuff.
NanceGreggs
(27,817 posts)... EXACTLY what Obama has been accused of being - and by the same posters; i.e. "a corporate sellout, beholdin' to the 1%, in-bed with the GOP", etc.
And now the HRC supporters are regularly accused of wanting to elect HRC is order to uphold the "status quo" as established by Obama, and see her presidency as Obama's "third term".
But according to YOU - after some truly astute research, I'm sure -- the Hillary supporters are the ones who have been "bashing Obama" all along.
As I said the last time you floated this utterly ridiculous idea, you might want to check out the names of The BOG posters and the names of the Hillary supporters - and note who's who. You also might want to check out the names of the most fervent Obama-bashers over the last 6.5 years and note that they are not now, never have been, and never will be Hillary supporters.
Seriously, dude - you really should be aware of the fact that people who post here ARE capable of seeing these things for themselves - and are equally capable of seeing how utterly ludicrous your "theory" is.

(11,495 posts)Anyone who says the Hillary supporters are the ones who bashed Obama for all these years really isn't dealing with reality.
NanceGreggs
(27,817 posts)... there's a lot of that "not dealing with reality" going around here lately. In fact, it's an epidemic.

(12,958 posts)Many of Hillarys supports are the same ones who bashed her relentlessly in 08. Back then Obama supporters went on an anti-Hillary rampage. Randy Rhodes turned into an Ann Coulter like creature and self immolated over her. Now many of those former bashers cannot handle any critique of her.
Sometimes life comes full circle.

(9,688 posts)You were 100% behind a candidate until today, then you do an instantaneous 180 because of what some DU supporters of that candidate said????
That makes no sense at all! In fact it's scary that voters can be so .... charming.
Esp. since there are several very substantial differences between these candidates.

(9,688 posts)who have never, to my knowledge as a regular reader of DU, posted anything remotely suggesting that they would support Bernie Sanders. The opposite, in fact -- their politics would be way way way closer to yours. As "Bernie supporters" their posts have never promoted any policy that Sanders is distinguished for, but instead all their posts castigate Sanders' supporters for being especially awful people.
Go figure.

(135,425 posts)I simply don't see him as "electable." Electability is an important consideration.
Good ideas are just not enough. The ability to work with mayors, governors, a United States Congress, and world leaders isn't something that is an unimportant talent--and I don't think he's terribly skilled in that end of things. He's not much of a schmoozer, and schmoozing is a big part of the job.
He does fine when he's responsible for his own homogenous constituency. I think he'll have a harder time when he has to balance competing priorities. That's part of why he's not my first choice--it's not so much his "ideas" as his ability, quite bluntly, to translate those ideas into reality through leadership...I don't think he's got the goods on that score. Being a curmudgeon only takes one so far.

(45,251 posts)And quite a few fronting, as in "I love Bernie Sanders, but (insert negative comment du jour about Bernie here)."

Do they get how transparent they are, or don't they care?
Whatever. It has entertainment value, so I appreciate it.

(29,257 posts)Admittedly, this is the first such post I have seen from from our side and I have seen at least 3 Hillary supporters saying they made up their minds because of Sanders supporters (supposedly intelligent DU'ers too!).
Still, it is as stupid when we say it as when they do.
Don't let DU'ers behavior influence your decision.

(9,126 posts)I count two "stealth" supporters all over this thread. It's ironic. One more vote for Bernie, misguided or no, makes no difference to me or to most Bernie supporters. (46,192 posts)your reason being that you support his position on having different supporters.
of course, if he's going to win the nomination, you realize that the supporters you don't like are going to have to become his supporters.

(7,865 posts)But this thread is kind of flame-bait and attracts attention off of the issues.
It is entirely too meta for my tastes. I don't like it when Hillary people make these kinds of claims either.
We should stick to discussing the issues because that is where is where Bernie is clearly and obviously the better candidate.

(9,002 posts)You need a slow burn: multiple threads scolding Hillary supporters for their behavior and how they're hurting their candidate. They need to be as condescending and finger wagging as possible.
Then you get to post the thread where they finally forced your hand with their behavior and finish with a long winded, "Are you happy now?"

(45,251 posts)how. If fortune should bless you and your candidate end up in the Oval Office, it won't be his or her supporters with the nuclear codes or the veto pen or the bully pulpit or whatever.
I'd say, ignore campaign rhetoric, too.
Choose based only on the record of the candidates. Chafee, Clinton, O'Malley, Sanders and Webb all have long records Go by the totality of their respective records.
