Obama: Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) "Won't Open the Gates of Hell"

WASHINGTON, D.C. (The Nil Admirari): President Obama reassured Americans on Sunday afternoon the secretive Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) agreement being negotiated behind closed doors by corporate lawyers and unavailable for review by legislators in Congress "won't open the gates of hell." The president admitted he could understand such concerns and stated, "Just because the Republicans in Congress finally agree with me on something and will help me get this thing fast tracked through Congress does not mean it is completely rotten from the inside out or the gates of hell will open on various places on Earth."

"It is no secret the Republicans have tried to block every piece of significant legislation I have supported and they will likely be voting to hand over their authority to modify or even debate the TPP legislation," said a shrugging Obama. "Why can't we all just be happy about this rare moment of bipartisanship and ignore the fact my administration won't allow anyone not negotiating the TPP to actually read a draft of the agreement?"

::SNIP::

When pressed by a reporter from Fox News about many Democrats in Congress being opposed to the TPP, the president conceded his party was having a little tiff over the free trade agreement. "Yes. I admit some Democrats don't agree with my administration on the TPP, but let's not make a big thing about politicians like Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders standing in opposition to it. They clearly don't stand for economic justice and the middle class like the GOP does."

A DU post led me to this page:

http://thedailybanter.com/2015/04/elizabeth-warren-is-not-telling-the-truth-about-the-trans-pacific-partnership-trade-deal/

The embedded link won't post, it immediately uploads the PDF. To get what I have, read the paragraph which says this:

When Senator Warren calls TPP a “top secret” deal, she’s not telling you the truth. Any member of Congress can see it now, and before Congress votes on it, the final deal will be posted online for 60 days. What we can see now is the USTR summary of the deal, which, granted, isn’t the deal, but it isn’t nothing.

Click on the words 'USTR summary of the deal'in that paragraph at the link.

When you get it, you will find it was created by the US Senate and is entitled:

Bipartisan Congressional Trade Priorities and Accountability Act of 2015.

And it is 113 pages long.

I consider myself a proud liberal and atheist and a progressive, but I don't waste time telling anyone in such terms, so where does that come from?

And I merely referred to a post that I did not make, using a Biblical reference, to tie to yours.

As for sharing through email addresses, it can lead to doxxing. So I don't do that with anyone.

The pdf has red flags, but the intent is protecting worker rights, business and employment, all in the USA. Not for the benefit of any of the other nations.

PBO has spoken against the sex trade and other forms of slavery and elminating child labor. He has addressed that we are competing with nations for whom such things ARE LEGAL. Anything that breaks that cycle benefits human beings, and American workers.

These are all out of the tradition of labor. I am also a 'proud' unionist, worked and organized for unions, women and minority rights and mobilized with others against war, nuclear, corporate rule, racism, sexism, homophobia, ecological destruction, abuse of all groups for almost half a century.women and minority rights for almost half a century.

*I have answered your post giving you my valuable time and showed you respect. Like Obama, I also have a bucket list that I employ. Bye.*

TPP seems to be only one he fights tooth and nail for instead rolling over like he does with nearly all progressive issues. Says a lot about where his priorities are.

women's rights, and fixing health care, as far as a few out of a laundry list of other issues that he have fought tooth and nail for. TPP is just one issue where people are jumping to conclusions and buying the sensationalism from the media before the deal is even finalized.
