Lindsey Graham: We'll Pick Up GOP Votes To Confirm Loretta Lynch

Lindsey Graham: We'll Pick Up GOP Votes To Confirm Loretta Lynch
Posted: 03/26/2015 4:41 pm EDT Updated: 17 minutes ago

WASHINGTON -- It's going to be a squeaker of a vote for U.S. attorney general nominee Loretta Lynch, whenever the Senate finally votes to confirm her.

There are only four GOP senators publicly supporting Lynch: Orrin Hatch (Utah), Lindsey Graham (S.C.), Jeff Flake (Ariz.) and Susan Collins (Maine). If all 44 Democrats and the two independents vote for her, along with those four Republicans, that puts Lynch at a 50-50 vote. To make it through, she'll need one more Republican to say yes.

Graham said Wednesday he's not too worried about that happening.
"I think we're going to pick up a couple more," Graham told The Huffington Post. Asked if he thinks it could come down to Vice President Joe Biden stepping in as the tie-breaker, he said, "I hope not."

Many Republicans say they'll oppose Lynch because she believes it was legal for President Barack Obama to take executive action on immigration and halt certain deportations. They have not raised concerns about her qualifications for the post, but say their anger over the president's action is enough for them to block Lynch. One of her loudest critics is Graham's buddy Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.).

In the case of the Democratic Party holding the office, special rule FU2 from The Patriotic Republican Handbook of Treason* comes into play.

*"As the POTUS and VPOTUS are of the same outlaw organization, they shall be counted as one and the Speaker of the House shall assume the role of voting in such cases as a tie."

was thinking more about the twerp at least voting reasonably for Supreme Court nominees. I believe he has a history of approving obviously qualified nominees regardless of who the President is .... even Obama!

but then he sometimes has some epic freakouts where he becomes a right wing jacka** like all the rest of them. Sort of like McCain whom you sort of respect one minute but then get pissed off at the next.

the logic of a President nominating somebody to head up the Justice Department who believes that the President acted unconstitutionally?

Yet, this somehow makes sense to Republicans? I questioned the constitutionality of a lot of stuff George W. Bush did and I vehemently objected to many of his cabinet and judicial nominees (some of which were rightly and thankfully rejected), however I never expected him to nominate anybody who spoke out against or loudly objected to his policies (which they would have to enforce in their position). Why would ANY POTUS do such a thing? Once again, Republicans are simply making outrageous demands of President Obama that they would NEVER make of their own POTUS.
