She's an Iraq War veteran (and unlike the GOP's token veteran Joni Ernst, she's actually been in the part of the war zone where shooting was) and her constituents are within missile range of North Korea...this would tend to color your national security perceptions, but outside of her stance on defense she holds positions most of us would be comfortable with - voted Nay on Keystone XL, supports same-sex marriage, likes Obamacare...
