2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumDemocrats significantly more enthusiastic than Republicans
This is good news. Likely voters are the key. Polls among registered voters are useful, but certain voters do not show up, and traditionally Republicans have had an edge in that respect. But things have changed. According to The Hill today,
"A bright spot in the poll for Obama, who officially launched his campaign Saturday, is that voter enthusiasm has swung sharply in favor of Democrats.http://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/225929-series-of-polls-show-obama-romney-in-a-statistical-dead-heat
Democrats now hold an 11-point lead among voters very or extremely likely to vote. Thats a 25-point swing from late 2011, when Republicans held a 14-point lead among those voters."
So pollsters (especially conservative hack Rasmussen) should take note and stop giving a large advantage to Repubicans when it's time to use LV instead of RV. Maybe Republicans will abstain to a larger degree than Democrats. It's a real possibility. This is good news.

If Rmoney keeps doing what he's doing I have a feeling they will either not vote or they will hold their nose and vote for Mr. Obama.

(31,849 posts)on my local (AZ) rag's comment section that from romney to the Barber/Kelly race, the best the die-hard rightwing/conservative/teaparty/republicans can offer is "Well, I don't like him; but he's got my vote because he's not the other guy."
That doesn't suggest that they'll break their necks to go out and vote.
Here's hoping for inclimate weather on the 1st Tuesday in November!

(21,977 posts)And I sympathize, but I'm enthusiastic about this election, and I enthusiastically support President Obama's re-election.
Hopefully, on the issues that have some of us discouraged or angry, we'll get there soon.
