Obama: Time for excuses on immigration is over

BY JOSH LEDERMAN
ASSOCIATED PRESS

WASHINGTON -- Declaring "the time for excuses is over," President Barack Obama is trumpeting the economic benefits of an immigration overhaul, arguing that a bipartisan bill picking up steam in the Senate would put the nation's loathed deficits and fragile entitlements on better footing.

A recent analysis from the Congressional Budget Office, lawmakers' nonpartisan scorekeeper, was Exhibit A in Obama's weekly radio and Internet address Saturday. The report shows deficits would fall nearly $1 trillion over two decades after the bill becomes law.

What's more, Obama said, the influx of immigrant-driven investment, technology and businesses would give the economy a 5 percent shot in the arm.

"This bipartisan, common-sense bill will help the middle class grow our economy and shrink our deficits, by making sure that every worker in America plays by the same set of rules and pays taxes like everyone else," he said.

Obama, like many politicians, are expecting relief from scotus on the issue. If they fail to act or interpret narrowly we'll all revisit it and give up whatever political capital it takes to make it happen. Also, technically the LGBT protections weren't removed. The amendment didn't make it out of committee. That in itself sucked, because there wasn't a record of the narrow-minded gopers opposition to it.

3. The SCOTUS cases are not about this 'issue'.

Lie: "This bipartisan, common-sense bill will help the middle class grow our economy and shrink our deficits, by making sure that every worker in America plays by the same set of rules"
Truth: Different rules for the 'special' straights. For others, absolute exclusion.
The amendment was killed in committee by DiFi and Durbin and Schumer, not by some act of nature. It was not just narrow minded gopers, it was Centrist Conservative Bigot Democrats that killed it.

The bullshit about the same set of rules is just mean, and pointed as can be. Intentional.
When he was a Senator, he voted against the Uniting American Families Act which would have made some immigration justice for LGBT people. Cited 'national security concerns'.
He is happy we are excluded. Thrilled for his Christian faith.

such good, good Christians.
"This bipartisan, common-sense bill will help the middle class grow our economy and shrink our deficits, by making sure that every worker in America plays by the same set of rules"

Of course only the heterosexual workers will play by the same rules, the rest of us are excluded from this bill, so saying 'every worker plays by the same rules' if a filthy wallow in rhetoric that is false as false can be.
