Obama will veto 2014 spending bills unless Congress turns off the sequester

Obama will veto 2014 spending bills unless Congress turns off the sequester

The White House warned Monday that President Obama will veto spending bills for 2014 unless Congress can agree on a budget framework that ends the sequester.

In Statements of Administration Policy, the White House said Obama would veto all spending bills unless they pass Congress "in the context of an overall budget framework that supports our recovery and enables sufficient investments in education, infrastructure, innovation and national security for our economy to compete in the future."

The administration was responding to two spending bills the House will pass this week. One is the bill for the Department of Homeland Security, the other would fund military construction and the Department of Veterans Affairs.

In both statements, the administration said the bills would contribute to a depressed economy and require "draconian cuts to middle-class priorities," since they implement the House GOP's budget vision that includes the sequester.

Really?

What other spending bills did Obama threaten to veto?

"Obama will veto 2014 spending bills unless Congress turns off the sequester" is somewhat misleading. At no point does he or his administration say this...or even imply really. Mores the pity.

These kind of articles are so aggravating. What is likely to happen is that our so called representatives will exempt defense from the sequester, hate radio will tell everyone how another 9/11 will happen if it's not passed, and the president will sign it. This theatre is absurd at this point.

And POTUS is walking right into it because, you are correct, he's the one that will get excoriated in the press for it.
