What to tell your conservative friends who don't like Romney

Explain to them why they should vote for Obama:

"Look, you're right, Romney is not a real conservative, the GOP didn't nominate a conservative and there's no difference between him and Obama - except for one thing. If Obama gets elected, he can only serve for four more years. But if Romney gets elected, he might serve for eight years. So, here's what you gotta do... If you want a shot at getting a real conservative nominee in 2016, then you should vote for Obama this time."

That seems to be what more than a few are saying at FR (although translated into English from grunting).

The absolute best way to "sell" anything to anybody is to convince them it is in their best interest to buy into your idea.

Anyone who wants to see a wingnut GOP nominee in 2016 would be better off with an Obama win.

The fact of the matter is that nobody has a clue how Romney would govern, other than to favor 1%ers.

The freepers would rather throw spitballs at the "Kenyan muslin socalist" for another four years than go with the devil they don't know.

then encourage them to pursue FR's semi-official strategy of sitting out this election cycle or voting a write-in or third party candidate.

I've been lurking over at FR, and I detect a significant purge of FR on the horizon. The founder of FR is fanatically anti-Romney, and I'd say at least 50% of his cultist followers are of like mind, and they will brook no difference of opinion; a typical mindset of extremists and absolutists. With any luck, this will translate to 10% (or even as much as 20%) of the GOP base staying home and screaming at their televisions come Election Day 2012.

Romney, as I've long felt, is the best thing to happen to President Obama; he is essentially the incarnation of GOP voter suppression. For a good many in the GOP base, Romney is nothing less than poison.

Just tell 'em to sit home and pout. Or vote third party.

"Congratulations. Your Republican Party has once again spat in your face by nominating a Massachusetts RINO who signed a healthcare law just like Obamacare. You should show them how you feel by organizing a write-in campaign for (insert your friends' favorite politician)."

Tell them ... "It's clear that the GOP establishment is only out for themselves. They take your money and support, and then use it only to enrich themselves. They don't care about your causes, and they clearly don't care who you want to be the nominee. I'd be pissed."

After all of their gun-toting, tri-cornered hat(e) rallies against everything Obama for the past 3+ years and the 2010 midterm elections that swept teabaggers into office nationwide (and in Congress), they STILL wind up with a Republican "moderate" for their party's nominee for their 2012 rematch against the Kenyan Socialist Alinskyite usurper! I wonder how they're going to make lemonade with those lemons?
