ABC poll: only 36% of Americans wanted DT to win.

Too bad more Americans didn't vote.

These divisions also are evident in another measure: Among Americans who say they wanted Trump to win the presidency -- 36 percent of the public -- a broad 85 percent think hes in compliance ethically. That drops to just 11 percent of those who wanted Hillary Clinton to win (39 percent of all adults) and a third of those who preferred other candidates, or none of them.

2. I did a quick calculation using these numbers

Assuming the 39% or 36% actually voted for Clinton or Trump, Hillary would win popular vote by 52%-48% of Clinton/Trump voters or a 4% margin. But according to counted vote results she only won the popular vote by about 51.1% to 48.9% Clinton/Trump voters. I am excluding 3rd party candidates votes for simplicity. So apparently either a significant number who wanted Hillary to win didn't have their votes counted (or switched) or they just didn't vote. We are talking about approximately 2.5 million voters!

5. The election was held in November, the poll was taken in January

Your calculations don't suggest anything other than people who make large mistakes often deny they made a mistake. For example people who voted for Trump might be regretting that today and not want to admit they made a mistake.

7. why is it that in polls, it's only the repugs who "don't want to admit" who they voted for? i have n

never found the republicans i know to be shy about voicing their political opinions, yet when polls are "wrong" they almost always indicate that repugs got a whole lot of votes that can not be accounted for.

3. So 25% preferred other candidates or none.

Sounds like most of those 25% did not vote.
