I think the "health care for all" bit for Trump is working...

Some of the people on my FB friends list, who have been quiet for some time, are now coming back with how horrible ACA is.
They aren't saying directly that Trump will create something better, but they are back to jumping on how horrible ACA is.
And this comment was coming from someone who is on ACA (with others adding to the insanity). I know ACA has problems with forcing some folks to buy insurance at very high rates. But I don't think they realize what is in store for them in a Republican world.
These Trump folks /and the semi-Trump folks are still hanging on this lunatic's words—they still believe and trust him.

5. But then again, if your premiums are high...

and your deductibles are high (my neighbor's premiums are $850/month and his deductible is $8,000), and you have a limited network of providers and hospitals, well, that's not really insurance either.

I still believe that programs like Medicare and Medicaid could have been expanded to provide care for those that were not insured (or as you allude to, underinsured) in a much simpler and straightforward way that would have proven much harder to sandbag when the political winds changed. I think we need to be honest with the shortcomings of the ACA, and as it was passed on a party line vote, we should be prepared to defend it and offer fixes that ensure the newly insured maintain coverage while easing the financial burden of those whose costs increased or benefits were scaled back.

I think we could have had single payer simply by expanding Medicare and Medicaid and letting private insurance "die on the vine", to co-opt the Right's terminology. As costs soar, more people (and employers) will realize that the government option is a better choice for them financially. And over time, I would guess 10-20 years, you will have de facto single payer. JMHO.

6. Hate to tell you

but with Medicare our premiums are over $850 a month. So if you want the best coverage, it's still costly.

10. Do you have an $8k deductible?

I think if it were just the $850/month, that might be doable. The deductible on top means you are self-pay for much - if not all - of the year.

4. A Quinnipiac ...

... Poll done just 4 days ago finds that only 18% of Americans want ObamaCare repealed.

May I suggest that the OP find some new friends on Facebook?

7. 47% want parts of it repealed.

They survey didn't ask which parts, but I can guess which ones people want to keep.

Preconditions & parental insurance to age 26 would be my guess.

8. The biggest problem with the ACA is that the most popular pieces are the most expensive pieces.

11. Exactly. Far too many don't understand how this all works.

You can's do things like guaranteee coverage for pre-existing conditions and extend coverage to adult children if the risk pool isn't expanded. And until people decide to voluntarily get coverage, either mandate for coverage, or an all-in, no one out system is necessary. But don't confuse the idiot Trumpsters with facts.

Let's compare notes in 4 years and see just how many of these "believe me" promises he keeps.
