The Most Telling Moment at Trump's Bizarre Victory Rally Was Not What You Think

They were excited to hear the familiar message and for Trump to continue to bash former opponents; from Clinton to their own governor, John Kasich. When Clinton was mentioned, the crowd chanted their old favorite, "Lock Her Up." Trump did not seem to mind that.

But he did make a somewhat feeble attempt to be presidential, turning back to the teleprompter for a set of prepared remarks on uniting the country.

"We condemn bigotry and prejudice in all of its forms," he read, words most likely written by Trump campaign manager Kellyanne Conway.

But the crowd, much more attuned to Trump's dog whistles and candid insults, was not fooled for a second.

"We denounce all of the hatred and we forcefully reject the language of exclusion and separation," Trump continued.

"We're gonna come together. We have no choice," he added. "We have to and it's better, it's better."

The audience was resoundingly silent. That is not what they elected Donald Trump for.

Sorry, I can't search for the link right now, but there's a Facebook group whose members (progressives) plan to reserve Trump rally tickets in large amounts and then not show up, to diminish the crowd size. Did so for his latest rally. I make no judgment, pro or con, about that tactic. :^)

Remind them of each and every walk-back, each 180 degree turn, every time he tries to sing Kumbayah in front of his loyal idiots. They've been punked and they need to be reminded of it non-stop.

I'm sure the blame game will go on. Clinton not in jail? Blame Sessions. Grandma has no more Medicare? Blame Ryan. Syria is still a disaster? Blame Mad Dog. Do these supporters actually want anything? Or is it all a show to them too? Do they just want to feel mad?

In a nutshell pretty much. I keep trying to keep those around me sane with the fact that at some point he's going to have to actually, authentically, for better or worse be president. No victory tours, no asking Fabio who should hold a cabinet post, no thinking up stupid shit to tweet about, no anything other than "trying" to run this country and be the man on the front line of keeping us from blowing up.

We have seen young energetic people grow old before their time as president. It's perhaps one of, if not the most, stressful jobs on this planet. Trump was in a air sucking, mush mouth stupor by the time he finished the debates. How's he going to be doing after 48, 72 hours of intense decision making that doesn't happen at his personal pleasure?

Baring something incredible happening the guy is going to be president in little less than 60 days. He won't be able to shuck and duck the press and his little game of White House Apprentice will be over. He'll become public worker #1 and every damn thing that happens from then on is going to be his fault. Him and his cabinet of expensive, morally challenged flunkies. Every damn one of them is going to have the eyes of the world on their collective asses. Every one of their blunders is going to be amplified by a thousand and there is no freaking NDA to protect them.

Trump is going to be a busy, busy man attempting to put out fires armed with a political toolbox consisting of one Fisher Price Little People fire truck and a dollar store water gun filled with a mixture of swamp water and gasoline. Good luck President Cheeto and good luck morally challenged flunky Voltron because the entire country, no, the entire world, is going to need it.

My opinion stems from the fact that Trump is the 2nd post modern president. My definition of post modern being the moment everybody started carrying around a personal computer in their pocket. The things he does and how he goes about doing them will be recorded and shared by the people at large.

Down the line when carrier finally ships those 1000 jobs to Mexico it will be reported on. If not by the mainstream media then by citizen journalists. It won't happen it a complete vacuum like most things that happened pre-smartphone, pre widespread affordable broadband. I could be wrong in my assumptions on how effective the American populace will be, but I have hope. At this point it's the only thing we've got.

I wish he would have stayed home and studied the national security briefing books with somebody competent, and called Mitch McConnell to tell him that his first act as president will be to nominate Merrick Garland for the empty Supreme Court position, in the interest of bringing our divided nation back together.
