The Obama Administration ITSELF rarely went after Congressional 'thugs for obstructionism.

Last edited Mon Nov 28, 2016, 12:34 AM - Edit history (1)

So it's bullshit to call our Bernie for not making the case President Obama didn't make.

Bernie never let the Right off of the hook.

It's just that he didn't accept the idea that that obstructionism meant we should just give up on more transformative change.

As nominee, Bernie would have been campaigning hard for Democratic gains in both houses and for gains in the state legislatures, too.

It makes no difference if he puts the D by his name. He organizes with us. He campaigned hard for Hillary in the fall(he wasn't obligated to stop supporting his own ideas while doing so).

Bernie is blameless in the defeat, and we can't ever win again if we anathemize him and his supporters.

I never knew BO ran this year either Bravenak.

Obama can't even leave the WH in peace, someone needs to take a shot at him. 7 years and 10 months of bashing the man was not nearly enough. Bernie can't hold a candle to Barack Obama. Obama did more in 8 years that BS did in 30.

Including a scathing open letter to them a couple of months ago that was published by HuffPo.

He also frequently blasted them publicly for stalling the Merrick pick.

Your assertion is false.

He complained mildly, but usually too late.

There was no good reason to wait until the last year of his presidency to write a letter like that.

I like the president and think he did a good job.

But he should have taken the fight to them, without deference, as early as 2009.

There was an obsession with winning "centrist suburban independents"-a group we never managed to get. And there was a stone refusal ever to run the ONLY kind of campaign that wins midterms for Dems- a fire-up-the-base campaign that gave people a reason to turnout FOR our party, rather than just against the Right.

I want us to never do this badly again, msongs. How can we ever recover if we do it your way and stay the course?

If I remember correctly he came to office in 2008 trying to stop the economy that has hemorrhaging near collapse and jobs bleeding out as well. He was trying to stop a great depression as the stock market collapsed. I think he was a little to busy saving the auto industry and trying to save peoples jobs in 2009. Where was BS when all this happened under Bush? Where was his voice?

My take is that MSM went out of its way to push a false equivalency to normalize what the Republicans did regardless of how extreme they acted. Sadly, this lead to the Trump presidency as Trump continued to act more and more extreme and the media put on he-said, she-said panels to normalize and legitimize what he said and make it seem roughly equivalent to what Hillary Clinton did.

coming back strong. I saw so much of it during the primaries it made me sick.

Do people realize what it has been like for him to be the first black president?!? Only he knows how he had to walk that tightrope.

I have said since the beginning he is the bravest man alive to take on being the first black president.

But it always comes back to blaming him and bashing him doesn't it. And that is what it is.

Oh man, I guess we are back to the circular firing squad. Not a good sign for DU's future. Whatever Obama or Bernie did or didn't do doesn't change the fact that the filthy, fascist republicans have total control for 4 years. Wave bye bye to all that is good & dear or prepare for one hell of a fight, together.

And attributed systemic issues to Hillary personally. He also blamed her and the president for policies he himself had voted for, like the crime bill, or against--as in the case of his multiple votes against closing Gitmo. He promoted the ida of "rigged" elections long after it was impossible for him to win the nomination. In order to advance himself, he instilled young people with a cynicism in the political process, something that may last for years. That division worked to suppress the vote in the GE, which we know because of alll the Busters who continue to repeat his talking points from the campaign.

Now he is taking advantage of the Democratic loss to sow further divisions. I suppose it helps sell books, Adding to the $14 or so million he siphoned off campaign donations for ad placement fees funneled through a shell company called Old Towne Media.

And after all that, he remains an independent, which is consistent with his often repeated contempt for the party and its voters.

Before you go to ATA to complain again, consider this: you don't want to read criticism of Bernie, don't post about him. To say we don't all share an admiration for him would be an understatement.
