I recall an "aha" moment from the day after the 1992 Election:

I shall never forget: I was off Wednesdays in those days in order to watch my infant child and grow and bond with her, and was watching C-SPAN and listening to the callers while I was doing chores and whatever, and a female caller from the Republican Line stated, and I will never forget what she said,: "I'm taking down my flag for the next four years. This man (Bill Clinton) is not my President and I will not regard him as such."

I realized then how deeply the Right felt about political illegitimacy when things don't go their way, but how we on the Left have no business feeling that way, since "the people have spoken". It was a long time ago...in a galaxy far away.
