(53,061 posts)Don't misunderstand. LO is my favorite cable news guy. He's the only one that I can listen to every night. Maddow is good but can be tiresome.
LO also declared that he is a capitalist.
"as much a capitalist as I am a socialist." However, he explained that, since America was the only advanced country where socialist is "considered a dirty word, I feel more compelled to stand up for the socialist side of me."
Economies that establish a healthy partnership between 'good capitalism' and 'good socialism' will provide the greatest benefit to their citizens.

(47,992 posts)Apparently others do think that and that's one reason I brought it up, but I think, from previous experience with some here in past threads, that s/he or they just don't really get what socialism is.
I hope that link from HuffPo with LO in his own words helps those who need it.

(9,314 posts)I too think he is awesome. Did you see his show this evening and the commentary on the Senate voting down the disability treaty promoted by the UN? Simply an excellent segment.

(47,992 posts)socialism up for the benefit of OP, with whom I had long and useless discourse recently in which I tried to explain and defend the merits of socialism, but OP would have NONE of it, so I thought it would be useful for him to know that the person he praises, to start this thread, is a socialist, or at minimum has socialistic values.
Thanks again, I will go look at ODonnell's show for this evening.

You can see and hear the emotion in his words.

(47,992 posts)OP, with whom I recently had a long and useless struggle trying to explain the merits of Socialism and RomneyLies would absolutely have NONE of it, so I thought he'd be interested in the fact that the person he's praising in OP is a Socialist.

(6,996 posts)I've been a donor to K.I.N.D. from the beginning. Look at the faces of the happy children because they won't have to sit on the floor any more.
O'Donnell is making a difference in their lives and their futures.

(6,996 posts)Larry travelled to one of the schools to see the desks being delivered.
They raised $2.4 million dollars and delivered 40,000
desks with another 5,000 to be on the way soon.

(13,781 posts)That is a multiple win-win situation. People have jobs, receive pay, support themselves and their families, and children get much needed school desks.
Much better than giving money to their government so that it can be siphoned off to those in power or shipping the desks in from China or some other low wage country.

(10,597 posts)... in elementary or Jr high school, I would get hold of LO and see if I could get the whole footage of the desks being delivered. I think it would make an everlasting impression on my class, make them appreciate how good they have it here as per education. It just might reach those students that you can't seem to reach. The ones you know are bright and intelligent but just won't take their education seriously.

I don't need anything from a store. This is what works for me.

Did you see last night how LO scolded those Rs for dishing Bob Dole?

(25,415 posts)He brought me to tears with that segment. I work in schools almost every day, as a sub. I volunteer in my daughters' classrooms. Not all the schools I go to have big budgets but they all have desks for each child in the school. Kids not being able to have something as simple as a desk breaks my heart. You can donate as little as $10.00. Every little bit helps to go toward the desks.
