...or drives a few more Republicans to the polls, it will succeed. And that's all they required of him.

The modern GOP has never relied on just one strategy. Ten thousand scales, each with a different thumb on it--that's how they rule from the minority.

overall, i don't think it's going to change much
people who are inclined to blame this on HRC (or even Huma Abedin) weren't inclined to vote for her in the first place; some of them may have been further energized by the story, and will now be more likely to show up as "Likely Voters" in poll-based models.
people who are inclined to overlook the email thing to vote for HRC are going to look at this new stuff as "more of the same" at worst.
people who are firmly in Hillary's camp already will just be angered and annoyed by Comey's quasi-partisan bullshit.

this is, at most, a marginal change around the edges, unlikely to affect the outcome. unless the "new" emails contain some admission of torte by HRC along the lines of a confession to killing Vince Foster, it will quickly fade from the public eye much to the disappointment of the trumpster divers.

However, I am a little concerned with how it may influence the down ballot races. I don't want to re-live the Repub. obstructionism of the last 8 years. We NEED one of the houses. Hopefully, as the shock wears off, people will see the whole picture and refuse to be manipulated.
