I know I am in the minority, but that kind of spoiled the spirit of the games, for me.

Back when I DID watch, I always tuned into the Canadian broadcast - they focused more on the sport/competition and less on the personality. That may have changed, now, but was wonderful coverage.

But, not all the competitions are made up of pros. Just mainly the team sports, like basketball and soccer. I still enjoy watching, however, as I love seeing the most skilled athletes in their respective sports competing against each other. But, I definitely agree about it spoiling the spirit of the games, even though a lot of amateur athletes in these sports will eventually turn pro anyway. It would be nice to see them compete before they turn pro.

I prefer the Canadian broadcasts, as well. NBC is way too fixated on the individual athletes and their celebrity. Yeah, the human interest stories and biographies are nice, but they're getting to a point where we see more of that kind of stuff than we do the actual competition.

When they censored that 7/7 tribute at the London Opening Ceremonies in favor of a Michael Phelps interview.
