Just sayin'...she is a Democrat.Source: The Hill, by Mike Lillis
The episode forced Wasserman Schultz to resign as head of the Democratic National Committee (DNC), effective Friday. But Democratic leaders say the six-term Floridian, long considered a rising star in the party, will weather the storm and continue her climb up the leadership ladder.
Rep. Joe Crowley (N.Y.), vice chairman of the House Democratic Caucus, also offered his full support and confidence in her future.
Debbie has so many friends who care about her, and she's gonna be just fine, he said. Debbie is a big person and she knows that this election is more important than any one of us it's about helping elect Hillary Clinton."

(80,708 posts)Frankly, I think working with Sheldon Adelson (a Republican, last time I checked) to kill medical marijuana reform in 2014 isn't exactly what I would consider flying the party banner either.

(15,696 posts)I would hate to think I had to work full time on capitol hill and chair the entire national party, while spending a year planning and organizing this week's amazing convention. Also, she's not alone. There is always a faction blaming the party chair for everything under the sun. Howard Dean was villified, too. One last thing: the party targets races and candidates every damned day, and you can bet your bottom dollar the statisticians, forensic speech consultants, debate prep experts and many, many others' opinions are taken into consideration when deciding on which candidate to promote.
To everyone believing that the party doesn't treating candidates equally, please volunteer for a local campaign and learn how the system works. It's really rewarding!

(16,104 posts)For the last eight years, Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz has had my back. This afternoon, I called her to let her know that I am grateful. Her leadership of the DNC has meant that we had someone who brought Democrats together not just for my re-election campaign, but for accomplishing the shared goals we have had for our country. Her critical role in supporting our economic recovery, our fights for social and civil justice and providing health care for all Americans will be a hallmark of her tenure as Party Chair. Her fundraising and organizing skills were matched only by her passion, her commitment and her warmth. And no one works harder for her constituents in Congress than Debbie Wasserman Schultz. Michelle and I are grateful for her efforts, we know she will continue to serve our country as a member of Congress from Florida and she will always be our dear friend.

Morgan & Morgan hitched their horse to Crist and really hurt us in this area. Many of us believe they would have succeeded if they wouldn't have had such a direct relationship with that snake oil salesman.
That hurt more than anything. At least it educated some people.

Look, we're all unified, we're a unified party, but she's got a Democratic challenger and a lot of us good Democrats think we would be better served without the congressperson regarded as the "prohibitionist in chief" in the Democratic party.

(30,481 posts)There are tons of larger forces at play in Florida. She doesn't have a vote for it in the state outside of at the ballot box. We had a great opportunity if it weren't for the absolutely ignorant strategic move of Morgan.
I agree with your last sentence completely. I just feel you are taking a myopic view of a state issue and acting as if she has more power than she does. I am no fan of DWS.

I don't think she got a vote in the Florida State Legislature.

Yes, she's in the house, but she also worked WITH Adelson's anti-drug org to kill Measure 2 IN FLORIDA.
She also voted- in her capacity as a representative- against legislation which would have told the feds to back off states (something like half, now) that have legalized medical marijuana for themselves.
Any more questions?

(43,890 posts)For a casual observer, you seem genuinely involved in the fray.
She (DWS) robbed Hillary of the fair and honest win she genuinely had in the bag.
She made herself the lightning rod of righteous fury by sticking her thumb firmly on the scales.
She has done more damage to HRC than Trumpolini ever could hoped to cause with his tiny fists of rage.

(16,104 posts)I want to thank my longtime friend Debbie Wasserman Schultz for her leadership of the Democratic National Committee over the past five years, Clinton said in a statement. I am grateful to Debbie for getting the Democratic Party to this years historic convention in Philadelphia, and I know that this weeks events will be a success thanks to her hard work and leadership.
Clinton pointed out that there is no one better than Wasserman Schultz when it comes to fighting Republicans and as such she will be honorary chair of Clintons 50-state program, Theres simply no one better at taking the fight to the Republicans than Debbiewhich is why I am glad that she has agreed to serve as honorary chair of my campaigns 50-state program to gain ground and elect Democrats in every part of the country, and will continue to serve as a surrogate for my campaign nationally, in Florida, and in other key states.
I look forward to campaigning with Debbie in Florida and helping her in her re-election bidbecause as President, I will need fighters like Debbie in Congress who are ready on day one to get to work for the American people, Clinton concluded.

It's a big tent we have and we needed all to feel welcome. Shultz tried to make it work.

(4,640 posts)BUT, I don't see why we should throw an INCUMBENT Democrat under the bus and not help her retain her seat. I'm thinking she'll do better as a Rep without the extra baggage involved with being DNC chair as well.

(4,311 posts)I want someone else as DNC chair - I think she could have done better in the midterm years. But I don't support drumming her out of the party. She's very popular in Florida - she must be working for her constituents.
And I admit to feeling some sympathy for her that she put together this great convention and then wasn't able to actually be part of it. But she should have had better control over her staff.
