Amanda Carpenter, a former staffer for Trumps chief rival in the primaries, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, called Trumps comments troubling. If Trump wants Russia to hack into emails for his political benefit, no reason to believe he wouldnt hack into your email to do the same, she tweeted, adding, The leaks are an act of cyber warfare. Trump should treat it as such. Not like this is the page 6 gossip page. Please!
Ben Howe, another conservative writer who has been anti-Trump, tweeted, The guy saying hell build a wall to protect American sovereignty is openly hoping Russia infiltrates us.
Rick Tyler, a conservative commentator for MSNBC, tweeted Trumps campaign symbol with a sickle and hammer and the words, Make Russia great again.
..........
Trumps comments seemed to send House Speaker Paul Ryan scrambling. Ryan has endorsed Trump. But on Wednesday, his spokesperson released this statement: Russia is a global menace led by a devious thug. Putin should stay out of this election.

(32,103 posts)Their chicken has come home to roost, and now he's dumping a HUGE pile of chicken shit all over them. Serves them right. I hope the rest of the country is watching, as well.

The fact that most Republicans are ok with Trump being Putin's lapdog is so incredibly fucked up that it's surreal.

I swear to god, if a democrat was as wrong with russia as he is, can you imagine what they would say and do?

(6,537 posts)or said they would vote for the party's nominee (which means the same thing) will vote for someone else. After all, once you're in the booth, who would know?

(889 posts)Conservatives, traditional conservatives, still harbor a lot of animus toward Russia from the Cold War. They see Putin as someone who would like to restore Russia to its former glory, and when a supposed Republican nominee has a bromance with him it seems to make them very uncomfortable.
I personally know 2 people who fit that bill exactly and this Russia stuff has gone from "look what the Democrats are whining about now" to "I'm not sure about this guy."
These are white collar, older Republicans, not white working class who think Drumpf can snap his fingers and bring their manufacturing jobs back.
Anecdotal but interesting to me.

(36,693 posts)If that was the case then why did Trump have his clothes lines made overseas
If he was so concerned about American manufacturing he would have built factories to produce his clothes here

(889 posts)The truth is a lot of those jobs aren't coming back, but when he had a chance to do some good over here by employing people he chose the "Trump route".

(19,286 posts)Can you imagine if the Russians release more emails tomorrow now? It wouldn't matter what was in them, Trump would be finished. If they release these the day after Trump urged them to commit a crime against us, he is screwed.

(1,975 posts)They are already spinning it to their own good! They are trying to say that Trump was "just kidding". LOL I mean that is one of the oldest spins, you can say anything horrible or good and then just ad "just kidding" at the end to deflect.
The worst part of this is, what is the media talking about? Are they talking about the DNC? No, they are talking about Trump! Just check out the comments on MSN's news story!

(14,095 posts)On his radio program today he was claiming he "knows" the Russians have the e-mails and when they release them that will be game, set, match for Hillary's campaign.
In case anyone has forgotten, Hugh Hewitt is the radio commentator who was publicly humiliated by Trump in 2 separate republican debates, and publicly kissed Trump's ass after Trump humiliated him.
