I'm leaving DU!!!

To go the gym !!!

I will leave you with this. Trump currently has the support of roughly 40% of the American electorate. That's his floor. These people hate diversity, tolerance, and inclusiveness. They are lost and irretrievably so. Our goal is to ensure his floor is also his ceiling.

His bromance with Putin and the Russians assisting his campaign story has legs !!!

Our country has to have another generation of stupid old racists die off before we're clear of the threat of fascists taking hold of our government via the vote, only to then kill off democracy.

I think his numbers are being inflated by the cops getting shot, which he cynically exploited in his acceptance speech. But seeing him ahead in the polls, even if it's temporary, is gut churning.

We really have to look at ourselves as a nation anytime this kind of figure gets that much support. He should be getting 20%.

Trump's ceiling may be lower than his floor. His elevator goes the wrong way. I'm pretty sure that's why he and Melania had to take the escalator when he announced he was running.

There has been speculation in media that he ran only to showcase his "brand" and is as surprised as anyone that he ended up with the nom. Koppel asked him that and his answer suggested that is true. He did not address the brand portion of Koppel's question, but he did say that "deep down," he must have known he'd win because he doesn't like to lose.

Anyway, if he was running to showcase his brand, announcing from the lobby of Trump Tower makes sense and the escalator was the closest thing to a grand entrance he could make into a crowded lobby (hired audience). But it was freaking bizarre to sit there, watching TV until the escalator finally got the king and queen of Trump Tower to the ground floor.

On his stationery. On the front of his Trump hotels. He wants to make money off of it. That's all he cares about. Even his daughter sees this as an opportunity to make money off his campaign. She tweeted about her outfit after her speech last Thursday, trying to redirect followers over to her designer fashion website ("Shop Ivana's look!&quot .

Further, this brings back to the fore - what was said by his son Donald Junior (who denies it now) to John Kasich while trying to woo Kasich as a possible running mate. Pointing out that a President Trump's Vice President would be the most powerful VP in history - in charge of both domestic AND international affairs. Why? Because there are parts of the President's job that Trump doesn't want to do. (!?!!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!??! I swear - that still floors me. Even writing it FLOORS me.) Remember what happened the last time we had a "most powerful VP in history?" His name was dick cheney, who also had a dim bulb mental-absentee "President" to partner with. And how'd THAT one work out?

And of course, Donald would be looking for all kinds of new ways to make money. Evidently the Russians are into him by hundreds of millions of dollars in loans and investments, because American banks don't want to deal with him anymore:

"I'll list off some facts.

1. All the other discussions of Trump's finances aside, his debt load has grown dramatically over the last year, from $350 million to $630 million. This is in just one year while his liquid assets have also decreased. Trump has been blackballed by all major US banks."

Hmmmm... no wonder he doesn't want to release his tax returns... George Will is probably right (for once).

As you point out, it does sometimes seem as if he had no expectation of getting this far.

But on the other hand, you have statements from him going all they way back to1988 on the floor of the Republican Convention he was attending for his good friend, G.H.Bush -

WALLACE: Well, I wasn’t talking about this year, Mr. Trump. But you have said, that if you ran for President, you’d win.

TRUMP: Well, I think I’d have a very good chance. I like to win — when I do something, I like to win. I like to do well, and I think I probably would have a very good chance.

This is just the first I know of many times he was interviewed, always playing coy about running but always with the theme he would do so if he thought he could win, and that he believed he had a good chance.

Then there's the fact that just a few days after the 2012 election, he trademarked "Make America Great Again." And this:

When New York allies tried to draft him to run for governor in 2014, he demurred. “I have much bigger plans in mind—stay tuned, will happen!” Mr. Trump wrote on Twitter in March 2014.

Donald Trump's Presidential Run Was Long in the Making

I think it's quite possible the Trump brand may have been built up, on network TV in particular, as a way to reach his target demographic in preparation for a possible run. Win win for him. If he never ran, he got his mug on TV and a bunch of money for very little effort.

I also think we have frequently mistaken a lack of preparedness on his part (lack of staff, lack of discipline) as an indication that he wasn't serious. JEB! said he wasn't a serious candidate, repeatedly. I think this is a dangerous misreading of the situation. I chalk his lack of preparedness up to a great variety of factors not the least of which include entitlement, habit, attention span and ego. He is quite serious, and the threat of that dangerous, elderly child in the Oval Office must be taken seriously.

Martha Coakley, with a very, very short campaign season in the special election for the Senate seat of Ted Kennedy (genuflects), went from a thirty point lead in a very blue state to something like 23 points behind. A matter of weeks. Broke my heart to see a Republican in that seat, even for a short time. And Scott Brown was an undistinguished state legislator who was dumb as box of rocks. Imagine a bright politician making sexist and racist remarks about Warren?

That's some great research you have on Trump. The Great Deceiver: Was he always doing it for the publicity or always serious or a little of both? We'll probably never know. He probably no longer knows himself.

And somehow during all his business dealings he managed to become sufficiently impressed with certain people with ties to Russian high-ups, even Putin, that he offered them jobs, and they are with him now as he runs for president.

"Few" being preferably about 10.

Box is good for small woodwinds, chess pieces, tool handles, models, and repairing wooden-bodied planes. It is known for holding fine details when carved but tends to warp when drying. Apparently, it's best to split the logs down the middle or bore out the centers to minimize cracking.

http://www.wood-database.com/lumber-identification/hardwoods/boxwood/

The traditional method of seasoning is to bury it in horse manure for up to 50 years. Don't know if you want to go that far.

Seriously, though, place an ad on Craigslist: ATTENTION WOODWORKERS -- FREE BOXWOOD if you can haul it away !

Boxwood is sufficiently rare that it should not be allowed to go to waste.
