(22,871 posts)This is as odious as right wingers claiming that black people voted for Obama because he's black. Go back to JPR if you want to trash our nominee.

(11,175 posts)The difference between "some" and "many" is subjective, so even if we put in the effort to through DU and all the rest of the media to tabulate mentions, we couldn't resolve the issue. Any fair-minded person must admit that the argument from gender has been made, and not just very rarely by a few crackpots as outliers that were negligible in the larger context. We can start with Madeleine Albright.

(22,871 posts)would be a historical first the the U.S.? How dare they! I'm so fucking done with this argument that acknowledging this is somehow admitting that "you're only voting for her because she's a woman". Guess what? It matters and it matters because half the fucking country is female. Anyone who believes that we would also be just as willing to vote for Sarah Palin as we would for Hillary because she's a woman is a moron. It's as moronic as believing that black people would be just as willing to vote for Herman Cain as they were for Obama.
I get it,you'd like to diminish the fact that this is a big fucking deal, tough shit, this is a big fucking deal.

(14,556 posts)I am also sick of it. It is saying women are too stupid to look at her policies and only vote based on sex. If that was the case, we would have had a female president a long time ago.
Repeating that tripe is demeaning as hell. It is irritating to have to go down the list as to why you are voting for her. It comes across as a test that only women have to submit to. I have never heard that a white man is voting for a candidate because they are also a white male. Men are not asked or presumed to be voting for Clinton because she is a woman. Because of their gender it is assumed that they have looked at her policies and how she plans to implement them.
If anything Clinton will lose votes because she is a woman. Sam B. interviewed a couple who aren't voting for Clinton because they don't think a woman should be president. Odd how that is never mentioned. But the false meme that women are voting for her based solely on sex gets tossed out regularly.
Oh and yeah. I have told people that I am voting for her because she is a woman. Just to piss 'em off. I feel no need to submit to a test justifying my voting decisions to anyone. over and over again. It is like playing whack-a-mole. A pop quiz on the same subject several times a day. Never had to justify my support for any white male candidate.

(4,311 posts)AAs, Latinos, Muslims, LGBT, women, the disabled, the working poor, and the poor and homeless will suffer under a Trump presidency. They will be supported and celebrated under a Hillary presidency. If that is not enough reason for you, then we don't have much in common.

Me, I'll vote for the real Hillary Clinton, not the cartoon version that either the right or the self-proclaimed "be right but never manage to DO right" left has promoted.
This kind of thread makes me madder than a hornet.
