The "Star of David tweet" is not going away for Trump

As usual, he and his campaign have totally botched it. If Trump had immediately withdrawn the tweet and not replaced it with something else, made a real apology to Clinton, and then fired the staffer who did the tweet instead of defending him with the "sheriff's badge" bs, it would have been a 1 day story at best and furthermore, would not have competed with Tuesday's news story about Clinton's emails. His handling of this makes Clinton's carelessness with emails look not so bad in retrospect, imo. After all - the Star of David tweet was clearly deliberate at some level, while Clinton's emails - probably not intentional. Plus, imo, Clinton gets some benefit of the doubt because she has actually apologized, while Trump never does.

1. Better damage control:

1. Trump apologizes to his daughter, Ivanka, his SIL, Jared Kushner, their children/his grandchildren (3), Jared's parents, and the Jewish community-at-large. Mea culpa and humility. (He could have apologized to Chelsea Clinton's husband, Marc, but that's not gonna happen.)

2. A new Tweet without the sheriff's badge excuse.

3. Let it lie after Ivanka and company accept his apologies.

Thanks, no_hypocrisy! You've given me a good laugh this morning.

"Trump apologizes..." and "Mea culpa and humility." From Donald Trump!

Have a great day! You made my morning.

We're discussing the Twitter account of the Republican candidate for the US presidency. I feel like I'm in lala-land with this idiocy.

As Clinton and warren have said: delete your account. Seriously, delete your account.

Donald Trump has absolutely no idea what being POTUS entails. His campaign is simply a narcissistic endeavor.

Consider: A man who wants to be Commander-in-Chief of the largest military in human history uses Twitter?!

ETA: And he has the gall to criticize Hillary Clinton's use of private email servers.

Donald Trump is far more dangerous than Sarah Palin.

First of all, he's a candidate for POTUS with a real shot at the White House. Governor Palin is a failed candidate for VPOTUS.

Second, Sarah Palin is stupid. Since she's no where near the levers of power- she quit her governorship!- she's simply noise. Donald Trump is an idiot but he is definitively not stupid. He knows how to manipulate people to his advantage making him far more dangerous than the shrill harpy from Wasilla.

Third, while she has courted the radical fringes of the right wing, Mr. Trump has laid bare the entirety of ugliness that is the Republican coalition. Richard North Patterson has a brilliant analysis of Mr. Trump's campaign in the Huffington Post:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/richard-north-patterson/kidnapped-by-a-narcissist_b_10682938.html

The column is a bit long but it's powerful, factual and merciless:

In the history of presidential politics, he is a mutation — shockingly ignorant, unwilling to learn, indifferent to fact, addicted to lies, blindingly self- absorbed, reckless in his behavior, wholly unpredictable, and gripped by a profound personal disorder which renders him not merely unfit, but an existential menace to the country.

Lastly, his expressed vision of his presidency would mean the end of our Constitutional government. If that sounds like hyperbole, consider that he's said he'll do away with the Bill of Rights (except the Second Amendment, of course), that he thinks torture is an acceptable national policy, that he'll illegally bomb innocent civilians, that he admires dictators and that he'll deport millions of people.

I do have to add that I can't wait to watch the Republican National Convention. It'll be a show to behold and Sarah Palin's speech will be one for the ages!

she's attractive and at the end of the day, that's what her followers care most about. They will follow her to the ends of the earth for that reason alone, she turns them on. Luckily she doesn't seem to have political ambition for herself, she wants to make money now.
