Elizabeth Warren Just Showed Why She’d Be An Amazing Veep

Politicus USA, Judith Bell

*****
Warren rightly called out Donald Trump’s selfishness in cheering for Brexit, “What kind of a man does that? What kind of a man roots for people to lose their jobs, to lose their homes, to lose their life savings? I’ll tell you what kind of a man: a small, insecure, money grubber who fights for no one but himself. What kind of a man? A nasty man who will never become president of the United States.” Wow, one can hear the whistle of a missile being aimed and launched right at the heart of the Trump enterprise, and exploding right on target. That was an utterly devastating takedown, and Trump knows it.

If Hillary Clinton goes with Elizabeth Warren, she has everything to gain: excitement, new voter enthusiasm among the liberal base, and a Vice-President who can back her up where it matters most on policy issues. It would be a total landslide in the electoral college if Warren is chosen, and show that it’s not an aberration for two women to run together on a presidential ticket. If two men can run together on the ticket, why not two women? It’s time to dream big here and go for it with Clinton-Warren ‘16!

I think it’s about time this country has women at the very top of the ticket, more women in the Senate and the House, and make our country a more kinder, gentler, and a better place to be that supports all Americans from every background and lift them up to a better future.

And that is precisely why I’m hoping we’ll see a Clinton-Warren ‘16 ticket very soon!

I don't care about the gender of the vice president; I just want it to be someone who WON'T be plucked from a position that is equally or more powerful than the VP spot and who won't have a Republican governor choose who fills the seat that he or she vacates.

Despite being a junior senator, she has already accomplished quite a bit in her role. And the last thing we need is her being replaced in the senate by a Republican.

I don't think she's a settler!

From wiki:

Warren is an active consumer protection advocate whose scholarship led to the conception and establishment of the U.S. Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. She has written a number of academic and popular works, and is a frequent subject of media interviews regarding the American economy and personal finance. Following the 2008 financial crisis, Warren served as chair of the Congressional Oversight Panel created to oversee the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP). She later served as Assistant to the President and Special Advisor to the Secretary of the Treasury for the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau under President Barack Obama. During the late 2000s, she was recognized by publications such as the National Law Journal and Time 100 as an increasingly influential public policy figure.

She's a better communicator and a better team player. I want her on the ticket. She won't be muzzled by Clinton. To think she's that stupid is ridiculous. And if she wants to run, she will do so knowing full well the consequences of doing so. I think her opinion should outweigh that of those who are 'afraid' of what may happen to the Senate without her.

people. That doesn't count caucus states. I think over the next couple months Mrs. Clinton and Sanders (and his platform) will become one platform they're both fairly comfortable with.

I love Mrs. Warren but I think America needs her as a Senator. She can always advice President Clinton from her position as a Senator. As a Senator she can continue to champion her positions for consumer protections, wall street and corporations much more. The Twitter wars Mrs. Warren wins so easily vs the "Republican Great White Hope" can continue without distraction.

Like she is apparently inclined to do.

The VEEP has next to no power in the US Senate. They only get to vote upon a tie. And they get to wield a gavel, when they apparently choose to do so (normally only when they are going to vote to break a predicted tie).

In other words, Elizabeth Warren would give up the right to:

1. Vote on every Senate vote.
2. Speak on the floor on any bill.
3. Hold a position in a Senate committee.
4. Hold a minority or majority leadership position in a committee.
5. Have a leg up to a Senate leadership position, like majority leader or minority leader.

Either this, or a gavel and a tie-breaking vote.

Only a mad person would choose the gavel.

It's Warren's decision to make, should the position be offered. If she decides to run, I'd have full faith that she knows what she's doing and she would not be a mere 'gaveler' or tie-breaker.

Especially if she was replaced by a GOP senator, like the one she unseated.

And statewide elections in MA don't always go our way. Consider the current governor and Elizabeth Warren's senatorial predecessor -- Ted Kennedy's fucking successor!

That is why is am taking a firm stand against any sitting US Senator, especially Elizabeth Warren (whose star is rising on the floor of the senate), from going for VEEP. We fucking need her and all of them there! We are in rather big poo-poo in 2018. We need every senate seat we can hold/gain. It is a numbers thing. It is no good to flip the senate every two years. One has to have a plan to fucking hold it. One does not accomplish that by raiding the best senators out of that body to become VEEP, or a cabinet member, or any other executive branch position.

We are under pressure here and we are not doing so well, if you haven't noticed. We have to start thinking strategically, long term, not tactically, short term.

That is our big mistake, one the GOP has learned very well. Sadly, we still haven't.
