I always remember the ReTHUG lady who thought she had a scandal when she saw him kissing Connie Schultz - only to discover that the man was kissing his wife.
That was one of the best jokes ever

(81,220 posts)Wouldn't mind seeing him as Hillary's running mate. It'd be shrewd geographically, especially with Ohio a swing state. HOWEVER, I'd hate to take a good Dem out of the Senate. Same major reason I'd hesitate about Elizabeth Warren. In both states, there's a CON in the governor's office.

(7,627 posts)Besides the fact he is a bright progressive democrat I like his gruff raspy voice. it makes for a no nonsense down to earth message delivery.

(14,249 posts)When I see Sherrod Brown, I remember him flying to Washington in order to cast the crucial 60th vote to break the filibuster on the Affordable Care Act - on what must have been the worst day of his life.
Brown, whose 88-year-old mother died of leukemia last week, had dashed from her memorial viewing in Ohio last night and boarded a government aircraft provided by the White House that landed at Andrews Air Force Base. The journey illustrated the extraordinary steps Democrats took to guarantee a major victory.
For Brown, the moment turned on the memory of his mother, who was raised in a small Georgia town during the Great Depression. A champion of social and racial justice, Emily Campbell Brown read and reread Harper Lee's "To Kill a Mockingbird" and insisted that her boys address African American adults not by their first names but with "Mr." or "Mrs."
She cast her first vote in 1944 for Franklin D. Roosevelt, and even as she lay dying she wanted to live long enough to see Barack Obama in the White House. And so it was a poignant moment last night for the son who knew that his vote would make a difference.

(16,254 posts)I think he'd make a great VP, but he is hard to understand at times, due to his voice. That is not a reason to go "thumbs-down" on him.

(3,739 posts)but also help her with those blue collar men who don't like Trump but just can't quite yet handle voting for a woman for president. I know that sounds terrible...but unfortunately there are a lot of (too many) men who are having a hard time voting for a woman. It is just that simple. I have always thought Sherrod, besides being a great liberal, populist voice (and a very masculine sounding voice it is, too!) would bring just enough testosterone to the ticket to help the wobbly male voters get over their "mommy made me clean up my room" attitude and vote for Hillary.

(9,893 posts)in the unlikely and unhappy event that Sec. Clinton should become incapacitated due to health problems or an accident. One really does have to think about that. Biden and Gore would have been able to pick up the flag. So would have Cheney, but we can all thank our lucky stars that dumya was healthy. The Dumya/Darth combo was bad enough, but pure Cheney would have been worse.

(5,693 posts)I kid, I kid! He's one of the most progressive and honest people in government today. Glad he's in the Senate. I had the pleasure of meeting him in person during a Take Back America conference in DC. He struck me as genuine and down-to-earth.

(52,160 posts)Brown would make an excellent VP but can't even be considered as we would lose his Senate seat for 2 years thanks to how badly we bungled the gubentorial election in 2014.

I think Senator Brown would be a fine choice. I do share the concern over the loss of his senate seat.
