I'd like to thank BeachBumBob for coming up with this pithy way to put e-mail in perspective.

(10,751 posts)Now you're promoting a conspiracy theory?
So what is it: are we allowed to suspect conspiracies, or are we not allowed to?
So confusing.
Oh wait, I get it: if the CT can be used to support Clinton, then it's okay to promote it; but if it works against her, then it's all wrong and the post should be hidden.

(10,751 posts)...just pointing out that the most vehement anti-CT posters here support Hillary Clinton, who coined the term "VRWC".
Can't have it both ways. Either we are allowed to bring this stuff up, or we are not.
baldguy
(36,649 posts)Who's wanting to have it both ways here? The reason the VRWC is problematic is that it's complete bullshit, just as all the CTs created out of whole cloth by Sanders supporters.
ljm2002
(10,751 posts)...I am arguing that conspiracies do indeed occur and discussion of such should not be off limits.
baldguy
(36,649 posts)Which must be why these falsehoods are so popular with conservatives.
Which also means that Sanders fans are doing Trump & Co a favor by believing them.

22 Clinton Emails Deemed Too Classified to Be Made Public
WASHINGTON The State Department on Friday said for the first time that top secret material had been sent through Hillary Clintons private computer server, and that it would not make public 22 of her emails because they contained highly classified information.
The department announced that 18 emails exchanged between Mrs. Clinton and President Obama would also be withheld, citing the longstanding practice of preserving presidential communications for future release. The departments spokesman, John Kirby, said that exchanges did not involve classified information.

(13,791 posts)And it seems that there is much agreement that the classification storm conducted by various departments of government is prone to over classification. Other secretaries of state (sorry, can't for sure remember which ones) have called it absurd.

(1,580 posts)Last year they mentioned these 22 emails and the designation of these emails had been changed after the fact. Powell also had 2 email that were changed after the fact. He said that he saw nothing classified about the 2 emails of his. SO apparently the email came to her not marked classified, then was changed later. This was rehashed last year and is just coming around again.

(10,751 posts)...where she instructed one of her staff to "remove the markings and send it over a non secure channel". Which would seem to show unequivocally that she was willing to break the rules regarding classified info -- info that was classified at the time, not after the fact, otherwise there would have been no markings to remove.

She has said she sent no mail classified at the time she sent it.

Hillary's poor judgment and arrogant disregard for clear cut IT protocol for handling sensitive or classified information demonstrates a level of incompetence that defies credulity.

(8,979 posts)Back in '08, it was "Ditch this Obama guy quick, we should be going with Hillary instead". And four years later Romney pulled the Benghazi tragedy out of his political bag of tricks, to no avail. As in prior elections, issues that matter will decide the next election. Ultimately, TBS (Trump Bullshit Syndrome) will take its proper toll and he can revert back to the reality show and pitching steaks.
