2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumNone of the talking heads are smiling about Hillary's email.
I have watched several video clips, and they all seem shocked and serious.
It is as if they are completely baffled that she has been lying TO THEM this whole time.
I trust my own skills at reading body language for "liars". If my instincts are screaming LIAR, I am usually right. Some people have fooled me, but that usually involves me *wanting* to believe they are telling the truth.
I could not stand Bush Junior because he reeked of LIAR. Cheney and Rove - same thing.
It bothers me when I see the same "WARNING: LYING" from Democrats I respect.
Hillary is almost as bad as Bush Junior lately -- her eyes go wide, and my heart sinks. "It was permitted," she insists, and I cringe. It makes no sense to lie about something so STUPID unless...
And I know she is untrustworthy.
I used to believe Bill Clinton. He fooled me. Now he lies, but they aren't as smooth as they used to be. It's crazy.
I still trust a few of them. Obama. Kerry. Biden. Warren. Totally Bernie.
But the ones who carry water for the Clintons - I don't trust them anymore. When my gut screams "you are not telling the truth!" I trust it.
I don't think Hillary Clinton cares about anyone but herself and her family. I think she is a liar, and I think the FBI is going to recommend she be indicted for corruption and failure to properly handle classified communications.
But no one is smiling about it.

So stop your personal attacks and face the truth
This is not going away there will be a new, news cycle each of these steps I mentioned. Who runs Congress?
The Senate or the House? That fact is not going away
And neither are Republicans. Never mind Trump using this and putting into the news cycle.
Even you think she didn't do anything wrong ..... or not
this will happen.

Because you are so readily jumping on the republican scandal bandwagon on this issue.

(11,366 posts)The media - up until this week - hasn't really been covering it because until the State Department report, they thought it was much ado about nothing, too.
But those of us who work in cyber security have known for awhile that this was a pretty big deal.

(1,178 posts)Publicly, provably? Our government initiated the IG investigation, not Bernie supporters. The lies came out of Hillary's own mouth and the report from the IG based on emails from Hillary's own server (or not turned over therefrom), not from Bernie. The FBI investigation is not run by Bernie, either. What, exactly, is your point other than stating the obvious- the Democratic Party will be selecting an unpopular candidate who is trusted by virtually no one, will unify he Republican support for Trump and who now has an independent report proving she is a liar?

Separation
(1,975 posts)Here is my hangup, she knew that she wasnt supposed to be using her own email server. She was told as much, and being a person who handles classified information should have known as much. Even with all that, she thought that she was somehow above those rules, keeping them on a personal server.
Over the last 20 years I have handled Classified information on an almost daily basis. I have seen people careers go right out the door because they skipped a step, or left a double locked safe open in a room that has 3 different locks just to get in. I have seen codes fly out of a helicopter through a moment of lapse of judgement and then the entire Armed Forces requires a new set of codes across the globe. I have seen person after person get slammed but somehow she is not held to the same standards at which we are?!
There is my issue.

(2,052 posts)Nor am I defending his behavior or rape. In any way.
But my contacts, which do exist, told me this was put out by Brock and Co. to get out ahead of the game. So that way when he tried to go after Bill about indiscretions he would look like sour grapes and bitter. You will see that this will never go much further as it was just to dent him.
Take it as an aside in this thread of a different topic
IdaBriggs
(10,559 posts)while the rest of us are talking about failure to comply with Federal Records laws, FOIA laws, keeping classified information securely in government control/not in her basement, not turning in an unauthorized person who was sending her classified information, and "pay to play" corruption issues with the Clinton Foundation taking money from foreign governments while she was SoS, including Bill Clinton collecting $500k from the Libyan foreign minister two days after Benghazi.
If you'd like to join the real conversation, please do so. You might need some time to get up to speed (Google is your friend, or go read the Clinton Email Scandal Timeline) but this is still going to be here for a while, so we'll wait.
As for the rape allegations levied against Trump and Bill Clinton, that should probably go in another thread (that I don't want to participate in).

(3,017 posts)I think the reason they're so grim is that they gave her a pass on the lies she's told on the email server story and now the IG report has made them look bad.
The MSM wasn't capable of investigating her claims that she complied with State Department policy? They didn't see the video of her telling a supporter that she wouldn't do email that could be investigated?

(9,385 posts)I think it's beginning to sink in:
I agree, her liar "tells" have been a constant. She looks straight at them and lies her ass off. You can see that there is no remorse, her responses are all geared to one thing... getting away with it.
I think she goes home and laughs at all of us, and thinks she's very clever.
I've wondered at times, if she and Bill didn't come to the conclusion at some point in the past, that for all they have been "put through" with previous scandals, the American public deserved any scam they could put over on us, and decided to grab as much money and power as they could as an act of revenge against us. Including making Hillary President, in effect giving Bill another term. I shudder to think what they would do if they got the keys to the WH again. I really do. I think this is an intentional scuttling of America by the two of them.
I guess we'll never know if that's their attitude toward us, but that's how their behavior "reads" to me.

(36,988 posts)While Mrs. Clinton has told Americans that she and her staff fully cooperated with Inspector General Steve Linicks probe of her private, non-secured Internet server, Linicks report indicates that Clinton and several of her staff members during her tenure Cheryl Mills, Huma Abedin and others declined to be interviewed by the Inspector Generals investigators.
Wednesdays OIG report states: According to the staff member, the Director, Clinton, stated that the Secretarys personal system had been reviewed and approved by Department legal staff and that the matter was not to be discussed any further.
But the OIG report reveals that officials from the Under Secretary for Management and the Office of the Legal Adviser found no proof of any written approval or that a review was conducted by other State Department staff of the Clinton private server.
Well.......... I guess that is just plain nothingburger.

Else You Are Mad
(3,040 posts)After listening and watching the latest round of talking heads discuss this matter. I see there are two reasons for this:
1) The lies from the Hillary Camp have become so obvious and blatant that they do not want to be caught on tape contributing to the lie. This is further coupled with the fact that they know that they do not want to be caught propagating the lies if -- and that is a big if -- there is an indictment.
Or, the more likely reason:
2) they are ramping up the issue to get millions from both Hillary's super PACs & Trump's super PACs in ad monies to defend/attack Hillary on this matter.
That said, yes I know Bernie is losing and that this is not sour grapes.
