All focus will be on Hillary vs Trump.

(19,827 posts)No need, unless she picks Sanders as VP( and hes making that difficult by trying to burn the bridge to the democratic party) this really has 2 weeks left to go even though the last primary is June 14 with Washington D.C. pretty predictable one for HRC.
Why discuss things that have been discussed 100 times before.

The common thread is most people in California do not view it as such or have a problem with it. The only ones who seem to have an issue with it are those at Fox news, and some Bernie supporters.
Most Californians are well aware of where both candidates stand, and we will see what happens on June 7

It does not matter what the actual situation is.
We've seen this throughout the Obama Presidency.

(5,356 posts)If you look at the top 15 whitest states, Sanders won 10 of them, and Clinton only won two (3 haven't voted yet). So that's something! I don't think it's going to help you much in CA though.

(154,021 posts)on the 7. Whether people here get it or not, is another story. And I suspect that many of the folks who usually go GOTV don't... DOWN BALLOT INITIATIVES and yes turnout.
For many like me the primary is an afterthought, and I have said this before, it did not start today. PROP I, PROP I, PROP I.
As to her snub... it depends who you ask.

(5,794 posts)By the first week of June, every Democratic primary in my lifetime has been settled for all practical purposes. If California wants to change that, they need to do what other intelligent states were doing in '08 before the party higher-ups shot them down -- move up. Vote in January. Beat New Hampshire and Iowa to the punch.

(6,719 posts)I like having a chance to see how candidates do in other states and each one speaks in unstructured situations.

(36,487 posts)The 'higher-ups', our elected state legislators, change the date to consolidate it with the state primaries to save money.
Algernon Moncrieff
(5,794 posts)I remember Florida moved up, and some other states, and both parties bitched mightily.
Brother Buzz
(36,487 posts)When it got rolled back to the original date, the Democrats were indifferent, and the Republicans dragged their feet a bit until it was pointed out the change was the fiscally responsible thing to do.
liberal_at_heart
(12,081 posts)more of a say is ridiculous. We should have a national voting day where everybody votes on the same day that way every vote counts.
Algernon Moncrieff
(5,794 posts)Just get rid of the whole delegate thing and the caucuses. 50 states and the District and territories vote at once. I advocate by mail.
liberal_at_heart
(12,081 posts)Party has completely ignored. None of the delegates will come from the primary. Our entire electoral system sucks.

(8,419 posts)Is the snub annoying? Yes, minor though.
My major issue is with California always being last in the process. AND IT IS BY DESIGN!
Those in power want to front load Southern States thus weakening the impact of the more progressive states. Basically a big Fuck You to Californians. So there isn't much I can do, other than change my affiliation from Democrat to refuse to declare. Basically a big Fuck You back at ya to the Democratic Party.

(15,139 posts)CAA -- Creative Artists talent agency. Hollywood heavy hitter. Price of admission was $2700 to get in the door. A photo with Clinton set a donor back 10K.
Compare that with Bernie, who's criss-crossing the state at large rallies and asking for $27.00 from those who can spare it.
The contrast couldn't be more clear.

(23,375 posts)I thought she showed up for a gala fundraiser at George Clooney's house.
Where's the snub?
brooklynite
(94,852 posts)Neither do I.
A "California Debate" would be no different than the seven other debates they've held and wouldn't cover any new ground.
Bluenorthwest
(45,319 posts)How about East Coast issues? New York State has 19 million people. But of course it's more important because it thinks it is.
Brooklyn has about 2.5 million people and perhaps an inflated sense of position. Oregon has more people than Brooklyn, Hillary did not even drop in for tea this cycle. She lost by a large margin and I think it would have been narrower had she bothered to do an event or two. But she didn't.
I'm sure Californians feel they don't need a debate, as long as Clooney gets an event all of California feels massively respected.
