2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forum"We need an election which does not have two candidates who are really very, very strongly disliked"
Thats what the American people are saying, the Vermont senator said on ABCs This Week With George Stephanopoulos on Sunday. If you look at the favorability ratings of Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, both of them have very, very high unfavorables.
According to an NBC/Wall Street Journal poll released Sunday, 58 percent of registered voters view Trump unfavorably, while 54 percent view Clinton the same way the highest unfavorable ratings for likely general election candidates in the history of the survey. (A CNN/ORC poll released earlier this month found similar record unfavorable ratings for Trump and Clinton.)
We need a campaign, an election, coming up which does not have two candidates who are really very, very strongly disliked, Sanders said. I dont want to see the American people voting for the lesser of two evils. I want the American people to be voting for a vision of economic justice, of social justice, of environmental justice, of racial justice. That is the campaign we are running, and thats why we are getting the support we are.

Hillary Clinton wrong that no negative ads have hit Bernie Sanders

With Hillary I have often found it wise to check on what she says. In passing that may apply more to Trump than even Hillary.

It is not as if all those who read and listened to floods of this stuff, and chortled over it, didn't know perfectly well that it was happening.
NOTE: the survival of our Republic is threatened by two things -- fundamentalist Islamic terrorists and Hillary Rodham Clinton. President Bush is leading the fight against the terrorists. It is up to those of us who know the real Hillary Clinton to lead the fight against her. We must shine the light of truth on this dangerous woman so that all Americans may know the real Hillary.

This season, it seems that a majority who are not liked have somehow thrust themselves upon enough people to be the Frontrunners. To be partisan is expected. But bi-partisan unfavorability is...WTH?

http://www.politico.com/story/2015/05/hillary-clinton-iraq-war-vote-mistake-iowa-118109
After days of Republican presidential candidates wrestling with questions on the Iraq war, Hillary Clinton weighed in Tuesday, telling reporters that her vote in favor of the war in 2002 was a mistake.
I made it very clear that I made a mistake, plain and simple. And I have written about it in my book, I have talked about it in the past, Clinton told reporters at an event in Cedar Falls, Iowa ...

Donald Trump is a NAZI. His father was a KLAN member. He objectifies women. He's involved with the mob. He's mentally disturbed which he demonstrates daily on Twitter. He seems to exhibit early signs of Alzheimer's, which his father died from.
He has said he is willing to use nuclear weapons.
His most ardent supporters are members of the KLAN and other white supremacist groups
He believes the minimum wage is too high.
He wants to deport all undocumented immigrants and ban entry to people from the Middle East based on religion
He believes women should be punished for having an abortion which is still legal in this country
So no, Hillary and Bernie are not the lesser of two evils.

As Maine goes, so goes the nation, Bernie? Because we know what happens when a stubborn, left-leaning candidate stands on principle complaining about persnickety party politics, and it isnt pretty. In fact, its insane by definition: We do it over and over again and expect different results.

Sounds kind of "talking pointy" words. I wonder why the need for that? Last I knew, discussion and sharing views is what a Discussion Board is for.
Currently I'm not aware I'm "proposing to override the will of the democratic base electorate". How about we wait until it's actually over. Seems to be the best solution, don't you think?

(30,253 posts)Hillary is not the "lesser of two evils" for millions of people. She's our first choice. If I had to vote for this mean spirited man I would have done so to prevent Trump from becoming president, but I would have done so while holding my nose. I'm done with Sanders. Instead of pivoting to attacking Trump, he's still going after Hillary. He knows fully well that he's not going to be the nominee, yet, he can't muster any grace and class. No wonder he doesn't have many friends in the Senate.
