2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumA *genuinely* successful businessman as Hillary's running-mate would be a huge contrast to Trump,
and would throw Trump's many failures into the spotlight.
Someone who built up a business from scratch instead of inheriting $200 million from Daddy. Someone who doesn't have four bankruptcy filings on his record. Someone who didn't start a fake "university" that ripped people off and is now being sued. Someone who didn't start an airline shuttle that failed. Someone who never had a vodka brand or steak brand that went under. Someone who never started a travel website that quickly folded.
Such a person would help destroy the myth of Trump's "success".

When these people have more money than they will ever need it's not uncommon to go into politics out of ego or boredom.

(114,904 posts)I have nothing against successful, honest business people. My father was one. An anthropologist by training, he built a successful business inventing and manufacturing. But, I really don't think this is a good idea. I want someone who knows the ins and outs of the legislative process, with experience working with congress.
