Related: About this forumThis should thrill Hill fans: City Approves Four Massive Pro-Bernie Sanders Rallies During DNC
.
Four pro-Bernie Sanders rallies, with estimated attendance of 38,000 activists, have been approved for public demonstrations during the Democratic National Convention in July, the city said Thursday.
The four rallies, given permits Wednesday night, bring the total to five for approved rallies and marches during what is expected to be a bustling week of political activity in Center City and South Philadelphia. The convention officially runs July 25-28, but two of the five approved rallies and marches of more than 7,000 activists will be held July 24 -- the day more than 4,000 delegates arrive from across the country.
NBC10 first reported Wednesday that an anti-fracking, clean energy group called Food & Water Watch was the first to receive a city permit for public demonstration. A group organizer said more than 5,000 activists are expected July 24 at a march from City Hall to Independence Mall.
For the largest of the four pro-Sanders rallies approved, more than 30,000 people are expected to attend weeklong demonstrations called March for Bernie at DNC, which will be held at FDR Park in South Philadelphia. Its within earshot of where conventioneers will gather at the Wells Fargo Center to nominate their partys presidential nominee.

(5,737 posts)How those people act when in Philly might warrant a different response from Philly. Oh, and how can they be called "massive" when they haven't happened? It won't matter anyway because HRC will have already sewn up the nomination.
trudyco
(1,258 posts)but wouldn't the permit have to specify expected size of crowd so the city can accommodate accordingly? Hence the size is massive according to the OP.
So there are four. What are they? Where are they? When are they?

(15,435 posts)approvals are being made on the basis of size. I've only heard about them and that they're applying for them PROPERLY!

(146,341 posts)when the convention floor isn't interesting, for sure. I'm sure the media will have cameras on those demonstrations. I hope DUers will wear their T-shirts so we can identify them in the crowds.

(1,446 posts)we can see the violence first hand. On national TV. For all to see!
That would eliminate any more talk of Sanders wanting to be a good Democrat and unify the party against Trump.
As for Hillary supporters, we need to stay far away from Philadelphia (except those delegates that need to be inside the convention), maintain the high road, and let the Sandriods hang themselves. Can't wait!!!

3. This could be great! If we can incite them just a tad (via media, not actually being there)...

You want to incite violence, and that desire is supposed to reflect badly on your political opponents?

(39,909 posts)MY, but you DO have a sense of irony.
A "proletariat" voting for Hillary is like a chicken voting for the fox.
AND...then trying to promote violence at a Sanders Rally. There has already been so much violence a Sanders Rallys:
*There was that first BIG one......Hmmm. NO. No violence there.
*Then there were all those massive stadium rallys with 25,000+ Bernie supporters, and the place exploded in violence...OH, Wait. That didn't happen.
*And then there was violence at ALL the other Caucuses......but that didn't happen either.
But you will always have the riot at the Vegas Caucus......
Oh-Oh. Big Problem.
No video of violence, Nothing thrown, No arrests. No Police Reports, No injuries, No hospital reports, no Police Reports, no property damage, no "on the scene" witnesses, no sworn testimony = NO VIOLENCE and NO RIOT. That one was completely fabricated by Hillary supporters who, like their candidate, have no moral problem just making stuff up.
Your post is an open admission that Hillary supporters wish to "incite violence" at a Sanders Rallys. And if that doesn't work (and hasn't worked), just make something up!
You seem to have a problem.

(1,446 posts)Took about a week before I realized that I didn't want to be associated with the type of people who supported him. (And realized he had no plans for all of his grand promises.) I really need to start a new account, but I figure if I keep speaking out against the Berniegod that I will be banned soon, and then I will start that new account with a more neutral name.

Great thinking and decision making there.
BTW: Did you choose to use a Royal Crest for your avatar when you chose the screen name "anotherproletariat"?
Here is a clue for you:
Proletariats do NOT have Royal crests.
But you DID make a good choice.
You do fit in better with people who have a loose relationship with the truth,
a hallmark Hillary's life.
(I'm being nice by using the phrase "loose association with the truth".
I can explain that to you if you need me to.)

(8,311 posts)... provides legal observers.
If you are interested in protecting the right to protest regardless of your personal preference in this race, and you can make it to Philadelphia, or if you are already planning to demonstrate but would like to perhaps do more, they will probably be offering legal observer training, or you can get the training through your local NLG branch between then and now.
Legal observers were created by the NLG in response to the 1968 DNC protests, and the NYC branch people were amazing during the 2003 Iraq War protests, including documenting an April 7, 2003 illegal shutdown and mass arrest of a legal peaceful protest that cost the NYPD $2 mil to settle.
I want everyone to be safe above all.

(28,512 posts)That's only, like, twice the size of a standard Sanders rally, and nothing close to marches I've seen in relatively nearby DC protesting the election shenanigans of Bush's two elections. I'll bet 50,000-100,000 people show up, easy. It's the same demographic - we on the left are the ones who show up to march when we're pissed off.

(10,540 posts)authorities will do all they can to render such rallies invisible, including illegal, pre-emptive arrests, etc. E.g., the NYPD acted in flagrant violation of court orders w.r.t. Occupy Wall St. and, as far as I know, was never called to account.
I hope you have a lot of experienced Occupiers among your planners.
Also, be on the lookout for fake Bernie supporters, Black Bloc and the like!
