Clinton: 'There is no way I won't be' nominee
Hillary Clinton thinks the race for the Democratic nomination is all but over, telling CNN Thursday there's "no way" she won't be the party's presidential nominee.
"I will be the nominee for my party, Chris. That is already done in effect. There is no way I won't be," the former first lady told CNN's Chris Cuomo.
Clinton called her delegate lead over rival Bernie Sanders "insurmountable" and said she expects him to unite behind her and rally his supporters to take on Donald Trump once she clinches the nomination.
"When I came out and withdrew and endorsed Sen. Obama, about 40 percent of my supporters said they would never support him, so I worked really hard to make the case, as I'm sure Sen. Sanders will," Clinton said. "Whatever differences we may have, they pale in comparison to the presumptive nominee of the Republican party."
She made the comments amid increasing fury between Sanders supporters and the Democratic Party that have sparked fears among Washington Democrats about whether the party will come together around Clinton.

She went into politics for fame and fortune. Bernie went into public service to serve, nothing more.
America will support Bernie over Hillary or Trump. She's needed every bit of her control over the DNC & the primary process to barely eek out a lead over Bernie, the most unlikely nominee you could have chosen a year ago.
She needs to focus on staying out of jail and let Bernie beat Trump.

Lawrence showed that in EVERY campaign Hillary was never able to reverse her trend. She always started off high and went down from there, EVERY TIME, no matter how much money she spent. That has happened between her and Bernie and it is happening between her and Trump. Bernie is still beating Trump by large margins.

I want to see the remaining 10% get coverage. We couldn't get a public option when we controlled the House and Senate so how we are going to get a public option now ?
Making promises you cant keep is not only irresponsible. It's cruel.

(2,262 posts)But some things need to change to cut costs. The pharmaceutical companies and private insurance companies need to be limited in the amounts they charge. That would go a long way towards the goal. But as long as their lobbyists continue to line the pockets of people in Congress, it won't change. Because politicians of today are as greedy as the corporations that pay them.
That's why Bernie sold me on his plan. More and more people running for office will use his approach. He has never taken money from these industries. It's happening right now in my county in WA. A Democrat is running to unseat a two term Republican member OC congress and he has modeled his campaign after Bernie. I'm sure he will do very well.
Our political mess didn't happen overnight. And it won't be fixed without time. But to leave things as they are or refuse to try is certainly no answer.

I am a die hard Heat fan. I watch virtually all their games but I knew the Cavaliers would crush them in a seven game series. Irving, Love, and James. That's a murderers' row.

(146,350 posts)She's also correct in saying that Bernie Sanders will help her win in November. Sanders will be joined by Barack and Michelle Obama and a host of other Democratic leaders in that campaign.
Some Sanders supporters may abstain from voting for Clinton, but they will be a small minority.
The primaries end, and are replaced by the general election campaign. Everyone pitches in to put a Democrat in the White House.
I hope you'll join that effort, too. Consider the alternative, and I'm sure you will.

(40,416 posts)It's not as much as the cheerleading as much as it is the entitlement. The US Presidency is not inherited or passed on by marriage. This has been a real ongoing problem with Ms. Clinton (and her followers, I might add). There are no turns in US Presidential elections.
Mark my words. We are all going to regret this.
I will regretfully support her in November if she gains the nod. However, her supporters are pretty damned horrible.
MineralMan
(146,350 posts)The voters will decide if she gets it. So far, she's doing OK with them. She'll be the nominee. Then, she has to win enough votes to get the actual office.
It's not her turn. It's her opportunity to go for it. She's done it once before, and lost. She's trying again. There's no entitlement. We have elections here.
longship
(40,416 posts)Of particular offense is her arrogance and the hubris of her followers that for some warped reason being a spouse of a POTUS in any way qualifies one to be POTUS. There ought to be a law against that sort of thing.

(4,667 posts)That increasingly annoying arrogance is one of the main reasons she should not be President.
The more we get to know her the less we like her.
Something else for the Clinton folks to consider. The ideology she espouses has no room for carve outs for women and minority owned firms because of globalization. Instead under FTAs we will only be allowed to discriminate in favor of firms from less developed countries, not prefer domestic firms based on any nationally desirable criteria unless its carved out now, like audiovisual services has been in Europe (so state owned film companies can be preserved)
Also, public education and health care insurance and services likely have to be pre-existing, perhaps even pre existing a specific 1998 deal, to be allowed.

(9,385 posts)There's SO MUCH fortune telling going on. Everybody thinks the future is now.
Not so fast. Part of her future includes some accounting for the past. Her aides will be interviewed about her email scandal all this month and into June. And the FBI is on the back burner, heating up. We'll see how all of that plays out.
That's the big difference she somehow just forgets to mention when comparing this year to 2008. Obama wasn't under investigation for how badly he bungled his last job.

(65,185 posts)It takes super delegates to put her over. And Bernie can make his case to them. I think she is a little worried about how Bernie is doing lately. I have been a registered Democrat for 22 years and want to remain that way - finally my patience is paying off with Bernie's strong showing. Finally optimism that our party can focus on the working class and income inequality again. I want to vote for Hillary in the GE, but my enthusiasm is already low - statements like this won't help. At least Bernie deserves some good concessions and no inevitability statements. Leave those to her spokespeople.
