2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumIs Bernie Sanders an interloper?
Bernie joined the Democratic party only about one year ago for selfish reasons. He wanted to become president, but he knew that he wouldn't have a snowflake's chance in hell of becoming president unless he leveraged the resources of America's oldest political party. The Democratic party.
Now Bernie is doing all he can to bring down the party he recently joined because Democratic voters have picked another candidate. He's bitter and angry about it.
I believe only a single Democratic Senator has endorsed him at this point. The vast majority of his Democratic colleagues in both the House and Senate have rejected him in favor of Hillary Clinton. In other words, he's not wanted.
I think Bernie fits the definition of an interloper to a tee.
n.
1. One that interferes with the affairs of others, often for selfish reasons; a meddler.
Another definition:
ˈin(t)ərˌlōpər,ˌin(t)ərˈlōpər/
noun
a person who becomes involved in a place or situation where they are not wanted or are considered not to belong.

(1,000 posts)Bernie ran as a Democrat because if he ran as an independent it would have split the democratic and independent vote and neither he nor Hillary would have a chance in hell. He did her a favor.
And speaking of selfish reason, Hillary has plenty herself.

Here's a K&R, though.

(10,751 posts)...the first definition does not apply. He is not interfering in the affairs of others, or meddling. Some of you folk seem to have a real problem with the DNC, who after all, agreed for him to run as a Democrat; and everyone at the time were glad he had decided not to run as a third party spoiler. What his reasons were for running, are of course a matter of opinion, and you are entitled to yours.
Your second two definitions, however, do apply: the Third Way Democrats definitely do not want nor welcome Bernie's presence in the race, because they do not want his policies to be put into place. Populism and blue collar, union workers have become anathema to the Democratic Party establishment.
