(3,733 posts)Sanders was always the favorite to win Oregon.
Kentucky was too close to call depending on what poll you looked at
but they were all within a few points.
Bernie lost.
He needed to win KY with at least 60%
He didn't.
TexasTowelie
(112,660 posts)because everything that I've read was that Bernie was going to win Oregon by 40 points and that he would squeak out a win in Kentucky. I guess its true that the more you get to know him the less he is liked.
spinboas
(48 posts)Just one. Not enough to make any predictions off of.
TexasTowelie
(112,660 posts)that doesn't have a track record. It's the equivalent of picking up a handful of darts and throwing all of them at once hoping that one dart would hit the bullseye. The poll was pretty accurate regarding the percentage of vote Clinton would get (48% in the poll versus 46.6% in the primary), but it missed the mark completely on Sanders support so the question is why were the voters unwilling to declare their support for Sanders in the poll (33% in the poll versus 53.4% in the primary)?
Up until that poll was released it was believed that Sanders would win the state with similar numbers as occurred in Washington so he underpolled expectations in that respect.

(3,733 posts)She was never expected to win OR.
She does have an insurmountable lead in pledged delegates thet Bernie
has no hope of catching.
Guess enough people like her after all.
More people than like Bernie anyway.
Armstead
(47,803 posts)either because she's a woman and/or they think she's a safer bet against trump.
That "default safe candidate" explains a lot of it.
griffi94
(3,733 posts)they didn't vote for Bernie.
At this point it doesn't really matter why.
He doesn't have the delegates.
He's not going to be the nominee.
Armstead
(47,803 posts)It is a vicious circle when people don't vote for what they prefer, just because it's "safe"....That's a way to ensure they'll get nothing.
griffi94
(3,733 posts)It has no bearing on why they didn't vote for Bernie.
They didn't vote for him. So he lost.
They didn't trust him or themselves enough to take
a chance on Sanders.
That leaves Hillary as our nominee.
Not Bernie.

(3,733 posts)That's why you keep seeing the silly OPs
about how she's not winning.
The delegate math was a done deal months ago.
Bernies is just loud now.
He's not relevent.
passiveporcupine
(8,175 posts)but support Sanders.
Nope...I don't think more people like Clinton. She's just playing in a rigged game. And for some reason a lot of people who like Bernie better still think she has a better shot at wining against Trump. I think they will be quite surprised to find out the truth about that.
SFnomad
(3,473 posts)People that didn't want to register as Democrats in closed primary states ... don't get to complain that they were "unable to vote". They were able to vote, they just chose not to.
As to the "rigged game", you people have one excuse after another for why your candidate is losing. He's done better than most anyone thought he would do, but he's still going to come up short.
And if you think that BS would do better against tRump, you're only fooling yourself. After the right wing scorched Earth machine was finished with BS, there wouldn't be much of a race left. We all know that Secretary Clinton can handle it.

Pretty soon I won't have to read any Hillary posts at all...they all have yellow buttons. Must be some kind of club they belong to.

(3,473 posts)broken around here. And that the BS cheerleaders have done that to the system.

(10,721 posts)The demographics certainly favor Sanders. A tie in Kentucky and a reasonably close contest in Oregon, where Clinton didn't even campaign, suggests the Sanders Campaign is losing steam.
HooptieWagon
(17,064 posts)Clinton barely eked out a win in KY and lost OR. She can barely muster 50% of registered Dems now, and loses Independants badly. Beats me why the Party would nominate such a weak candidate....down-ticket Dems have to be shitting bricks.
Garrett78
(10,721 posts)Clinton has won a bunch of open primaries.
"It's the demographics, stupid."

(10,721 posts)It wasn't an insult then, and it's not an insult now.
griffi94
(3,733 posts)because she has the most votes and the most delegates.
That's how elections work.
It's based on delegates who are awarded based on votes.
Not on who you wish would win or who
you think is a better candidate.
Hillary is our nominee.
HooptieWagon
(17,064 posts)Look at the many Sanders supporters whose voter registration was mysteriously changed. Look at the hundreds of millions the DNC is laundering and giving to the Clinton campaign. Look at all the cheating DWS has done, and the lies and smears by Clinton surrogates. Fact of the matter is Sanders has run a clean campaign, and would likely be leading which is why Clinton has run such a dirty one. Being a crook doesn't earn votes.
griffi94
(3,733 posts)I'm not getting into any conspiracy theories.
If Bernie were taller he'd be real tall.
If he had more votes he'd be winning like Obama did.
If I had millions of dollars I'd be rich.
I hate the Denver Broncos...If the Carolina Panthers had scored more points in the SB the Broncos would have lost.
The refs must have cheated.
None of that has any bearing on anything.
He didn't get the most votes by several million.
He hasn't won the most deleagtes by almost 300
He's not going to be our nominee.
The reasons why he lost are irrelevent.
HooptieWagon
(17,064 posts)...but will cost her 10s of millions GE votes, not to mention votes for down-ticket Candidates. A lot of long time Dems leaving the party....might even mean the end of a viable party. Quite a legacy for Hillary and Debbie.
griffi94
(3,733 posts)She's also going to be our nominee.
Not Bernie.
Bernie didn't win.

(14,157 posts)Expectation was for Sanders to win in Oregon by 40 percent and squeak out a win in Kentucky.

(1,473 posts)You're right! Polls are pretty worthless. Therefore I expect that we wont be burdened with any more of those nonsensical "bernie polls better than Hillary in the GE" OPs then, Right? Being that that is Sanders argument, how will he flip super delegates?
With the help of those supporters phoning in death threats?
Corporate666
(587 posts)Berniebots have been predicting a yuuuuge win for him there. Yuuuuge.
He needed 66% in every contest going forward. Which means some he would get less, and others he would need more. If he can't even hit 66% in the state that is tailor made for him - what chance does he have?
Answer: no chance.

(1,446 posts)I'm just happy that Hillary will likely end up with more delegates from tonight. Again.
