OP
That's right. You don't have to be a party "member" in order to be a registered Democratic voter.

And one of the few remaining members of the CPC that has not endorsed Clinton.

...but I understand sanders folks feel you don't need to be a member of the Democratic Party to be an actual Democrat, so.....

Probably 99% of more of registered Democrats are not members of the Democratic Party.
How many registered Democrats have paid monthly dues and attended actual Democratic Party membership meetings?
The term "member" of the Democratic Party must be used very loosely.

Well, those who are super delegates can of course withdraw their endorsement and vote for Bernie if they want the strongest candidate against Trump.
The super delegates are not pledged to vote for anyone.

(94,916 posts)7. Pledge (v): "commit (a person or organization) by a solemn promise."
They are not OBLIGATED to vote for Clinton, but 521 have voluntarily pledged to vote for her, and Sanders doesn't seem to be coming up with any compelling arguments for them to change their minds.

(2,054 posts)8. The are not required to vote for any candidate they may have committed to.
They are free agents and promises that may have been made to Hillary before she even became a candidate can be withdrawn.
That's how over 200 super delegates "pledged to vote for her" abandoned her and voted for Obama at the 2008 convention.
Did you forget about that?

(94,916 posts)9. As I recall, Obama was winning at the time...an ever so slight distinction.

The time for that is nearing.
