2016 Postmortem

Democratic and Republican party platforms are pretty much meaningless documents. Candidates don't run on them and voters don't read them.
And how many voters. outside of DU posters, will read the 2016 Democratic Party platform?
My guess is somewhere between 5 and 10.

OP
Good point. Most convention delegates will read the platform. Not all, but most.

I have read every Democratic Party platform since 1976. They are meaningless.

I too guess at many things and then turn around and state them as both absolute and inviolable...

And outside of that my guess remains that 5 to 10 non-delegate, and none DU voters might read the platform.
What's your guess or estimate?

And I'm speaking for the 99.9% of voters who don't read the platforms. The presidential and congressional candidates rarely distribute the platform as a major piece of their campaign literature. If you ask a campaign committee for a copy they may, or may not, send you a copy since the platforms aren't usually available at most campaign literature tables. You didn't know that?
And I'm still looking for a candidate who has widely circulated and campaigned on those platforms and rarely find a voter who has read any of the Democratic or Republican party platforms.

I too guess at many things and then turn around and state them as both absolute and inviolable... our biases thank us for doing so.
