While the article in question does not directly address the Presidential election, instead focusing on local races, this is yet one more strand of evidence surrounding widespread election fraud and irregularities at the polls. In this case, there appears to be evidence of ballot stuffing - more ballots in some precincts than voters who checked in to vote. May have cost Bernie a couple of delegates in Maryland as well.

(375 posts)The article doesn't address the Presidential election at all! Nice set of weasel words there. May have cost Bernie? Maybe it cost Hillary, or Martin O'Malley, for that matter. But it probably didn't cost any of them anything.
But I bet that there will be a comeback, based on vapors and smoke.

(154,021 posts)you can start questioning them at all levels. This is evidence of why I don't consider the US electoral system, as hodge podge as it is, legitimate, and that started in 2000, so save the snark.

I doubt it, but this could actually now start a serious conversation on election integrity.

And this bit seems important:
John T. Willis, a former Maryland secretary of state who has studied Maryland elections, said errors aren't unusual in large urban areas. The alleged problems in Baltimore's primary fall far short of the election debacle in the 2000 presidential election in Florida, he said.
"The administrative errors that occurred are not to the degree of severity that have happened in large urban jurisdictions around the country or happened in Miami-Dade County," Willis said. "It's nothing of the magnitude that is likely to have an impact on the outcome of the election."
Willis also noted that the city, like the rest of Maryland, implemented a new voting system at the polls in April, and added that the entire state is suffering because of a nearly $1 million cut in voter education services.

(13,933 posts)Maryland finally went to paper ballots and optical scanners (and got rid of the electronic machines) for this election. The change caused some confusion, in addition to other logistical fuckups, but fortunately, actual votes can be counted.
