Michael Ceraso, who was the campaign's deputy director in New Hampshire, has been replaced with the campaigns former Iowa state director, Robert Becker. Becker was sent to Michigan and New York and other key states in the last few months. He is already working in Los Angeles, campaign sources told ABC News today.
Sizable Chunk of WV Democrats Plan to Vote for Donald Trump
"Robert Becker is now the state director for Bernie in California, campaign spokesman Michael Briggs said in a statement. Becker is one of the most seasoned and savvy people working on our campaign or any campaign.
Sanders himself has said that winning the Golden State, which holds its primary on June 7, is "imperative to his long-shot effort to overtake rival Hillary Clinton in the race for delegates. But the change-up speaks to larger uneasiness within Sanders ranks ahead of the primary with the largest number of delegates at stake.
Politico first reported the shake-up.

(71,265 posts)is when you say you are pivoting to the GE trying to pretend you won the primary. Spin is when after you claim you are pivoting to the GE you buy TV advertising in an upcoming primary state and make numerous visits to that same state right before their primary. Spin is when you call an FBI investigation a security review.

(11,998 posts)From the Politico article I saw, he suggested a strategy, and based on the last sentence of that article, it seems like Sanders agreed to it, at least in part. I didn't see any "complaining." Or is there some other source you are referring to?

(94,889 posts)The surprise move came after a period when Ceraso advocated for a California strategy that involved more investment on field and digital organizing than on television advertising a staple of Sanders campaign elsewhere so far he told POLITICO.

(11,998 posts)I didn't specifically read "advocating" x as "complaining" about not-x, or that any disagreement about strategy was necessarily the reason he was out.

(13,436 posts)Ceraso wanted a more digital investment and outreach instead of the usual and expensive television advertising route. His more progressive approach was canned in favor of more mainstream tactics. Very interesting.
I personally spent less than 3 hours watching television last week but I spent a couple dozen hours consuming digital media, entertainment, etc and I don't live in CA where commutes and other issues would pressure me to consume even more info digitally than via television.

(36,488 posts)"Sanders' campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment." does not portray the campaign in a favorable light. Hell, a press release clarifying the change should have been prepared before they even pulled the switch.

This is an 11th-hour panic move, as they most have some pretty frightening internal numbers on Sanders chances in California.
