OP
WV should probably be ignored. In 2012, 42% voted for a prison inmate over Obama.

In both 2004 and 2008, 69 percent of West Virginias self-identified voters voted for Republicans George W. Bush and John McCain. (Both carried the state with 56 percent. And they held their party support with more than 90 percent. Mitt Romney carried West Virginia, in 2012, with about 62 percent.)
West Virginia has been in transition since after the 1990sthe self-identified Democrats have outnumbered the Republicans for so long; but, now that the state is voting for Rs, the self-identified will trend in their overdue direction.
