2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumLOL, ok Hillary supporters, what would you suggest we Bernie supporters do?
I see all these idiotic posts about how we know Bernie cannot win, etc.
Lets say we agree, what would you like us to do?
Jump on the Hillary bandwagon? BS to that. We know the real Hillary. And many of us do not think she is a good dem.
I'll vote for Hillary, just to stop Trump, not because I think she is a good candidate. I have a feeling most US Dems will vote for her for the same reason.
Hillary needs to use that as her slogan "Hillary 2016, Better than Trump"
So let us know how we are supposed to behave, you all seem to have all the answers.

(12,504 posts)...the person most likely to get the nomination, in the rush to damage Hillary, people are escalating the image we are a party divided, infusing a sense of superiority to RW, providing a message to those who not as wonky as we, that she is so damaged sitting out the election is a viable option, and perhaps Trump is not all that different to Hillary.
Constantly promoting the message that Hillary = Republican is one of the biggest lies tolerated and promoted on this "Dem" site.

(1,748 posts)She is no different.
So, what... now that his wife is the nominee, stating such observations is verboten?
There is no 'image' that this is a divided party - it is a fact. Maybe you think if we all hold hands and sing kumbaya on DU, somehow that will fool someone? Anyone? Do you really think so?

(2,461 posts)And I think this is a clever move on her part. Not only does it save her from looking like a hypocrite, but it keeps the media focused on the wide inclusive range of issues and people that make up democrats. Need #'s!!!

(17,064 posts)We're more than willing to support Sanders as a third party candidate in the GE since that appears tobe what they want.

(17,064 posts)She's not willing to compromise with the left one iota, no reason we should then. The Right Wingers can't take our votes for granted. If we don't have a place at the bargaining table, then you republican Lites are on your own.

(35,454 posts)I will be okay. Will you?

(17,064 posts)The country survived 8 years of W. It'll survive 4 years of whoever gets elected in Nov. Meantime, a left party will form. If Dems want to split the RW with Republicans, go ahead.

(35,454 posts)I don't speak for all Hillary supporters, but I'm done. I'm over this. If you don't want to vote for the Democratic nominee, then that's your choice. I'm not going to beg you to vote for Hillary.
Bernie was rejected by a majority of the Dem voters, and yet somehow, his supporters simply cannot accept that reality.

(1,748 posts)Her supporters are so busy patting themselves on the back and feeling smug about WINNING, but they refuse to take their oh-so-comfy blinders off.
Yes, lots of Dem primary voters like her. Many others don't. Dems. Many DEMS don't.
And DEMS are a touch under 1/3 of the electorate.
This is why she's now reaching out to Republicans.
Y'all don't need to worry about us. As you said, she's never had a chance with us.
What you should be worried about is how many others she may still lose, in her effort to court republican votes.
Good luck.
Enjoy the next six months.

(8,311 posts)... work, and vote, to ensure that people supporting Bernie's ideas are fairly represented on the platform committee (a move I think Hillary should endorse, as it would make the Convention go more smoothly).
Every vote still does count.
Volunteer and vote in the remaining primaries. Make sure your voice is heard if you haven't been able to speak.

(3,733 posts)But Bernie isn't going to be the nominee.
Candidates in elections are often not thrilling.
What you can live with is up to each individual.
I would wonder why the Bernie supporters who state
over and over and over that they'll never vote for Hillary
continue to say that when it's been well documented.
Is it just so we know how angry they are.
Because if that's why.
We already get it.
The declarations of Bernie or Bust aren't going to
change the outcome of the primary at this point.
It seems to me that it's like beating a dead horse.
Bernie isn't going to be our nominee

(25,406 posts)the democratically expressed wishes of the voters.
Second, also try to discourage the attacks on Hillary that exactly echo what we've been hearing from Republicans since 1992 (Whitewater, Vince Foster, Benghazi, Bill's affairs, etc.)
Third, if Bernie had beaten Hillary by several million votes and was poised to win the nomination, I wouldn't be thrilled at the voters' choice, but I would accept that the main priority is to beat Donald Trump in November. So let's start criticizing Trump and the Republicans to the same extent that Bernie fans have been attacking Hillary.

That's a real issue. Not a made-up GOP one.
How can anyone possibly think an FBI investigation is "nonsense?" This isn't Gowdy partisan Benghazi committee. The FBI is the country's premier criminal investigative unit.

it became a political football to use against your political opponent.
Also, "cyber" ? Seriously? No one says "cyber" unless they're either stuck in 1999 or on the creative team for CBS' out-of-touch crime dramas.
Please, drop some "information superhighway" on us next.
I was surfing the information superhighway and found this thread. What that guy wrote was so funny I made a copy to my zip drive.
I also made a note in my PDA to check this thread in the future just in case I don't get an electronic mail message to alert me of updates.
Cyber security. Haha

(10,336 posts)They literally aren't expecting anything from us, as they have now pivoted to courting Republicans (the triangulation so many of us have been writing about for months on end now).
I guess they know better than we.
I have no intentions of playing nice going forward. They can figure out how to reach me other ways. Perhaps through my Union local? Good luck with that plan.

(146,351 posts)consideration of all of the available facts. Most Sanders supporters will vote for Clinton in November. What individual supporters do, however, is entirely up to them.
Those who stay around on DU will read many arguments about why voting for Clinton makes the most sense. We'll try to convince people of that but it remains an individual decision, as always.
