Looks like voters have made their decision. Hillary will be our nominee.

In that case, it's a dead heat at 40.1% each.

Does "likely Democratic primary voter" refer to all voters, regardless of party affiliation, who intend to vote in the primaries, or only to those declaring D affiliation?
Seems to be the latter, since adding D to the default filter (LDPV) didn't change the numbers.
Hence my question about open primaries.
DCBob
(24,689 posts)At least that is my understanding. I have to admit that poll and the filtering is a bit weird.

(68,788 posts)are not significant as she has already won...she will reach the insurmountable number of delegates by California ...and maybe sooner.
bvf
(6,604 posts)in a single sentence.* If she hasn't reached an insurmountable number of delegates--which may not be clear until votes are cast in Philadelphia--she can't be said to have won.
If this is a done deal the way so many people are maintaining, I'm at a loss to explain the recent spate of posts insisting that that's truly the case. If I thought my candidate had things wrapped up at this point, I'd be enjoying myself in the Science and Religion Groups, marveling at amazing insects and quantum physics, among other things.
There seems to be an awful lot of whistling in the dark going on around here among Clinton supporters, especially those constantly importuning Skinner and telling him how to run his website. I'm sure he enjoys that.
*At least I think it was single sentence. It's hard to tell with people who use ellipses like a crutch. Don't take that personally. You're not alone there.

(12,000 posts)At this point, the poll would be most useful if it were restricted to states that had not yet voted, I wonder if they take that into account in the rolling dates.
Regardless, what Sanders needs to do to have even a narrow shot is to motivate new people to register to vote for him, in the states where that can still be done (esp. CA). And these people would presumably not be reflected in polls of likely voters so far.

(90,061 posts)Shortly before John Kasich dropped out of the race for the Republican presidential nomination, leaving Donald Trump as the only candidate, the Ohio governor put up a spoof video on the Internet. Modelled on the old-fashioned intro that scrolls up the screen at the start of each Star Wars movie, it envisioned a future in which Trump won the candidacy, lost the presidential election, and left Hillary Clinton triumphant.
Titled 'Our Only Hope', Kasich's video began: "Upon defeating Donald Trump in the largest landslide since Reagan in 1984, President Hillary Clinton is preparing to name her newest Supreme Court justice, Elizabeth Warren. (House) Speaker Nancy Pelosi is planning new tax hikes, hoping that Senate President Chuck Schumer and his new Democratic majority can swiftly get it to the president's desk for her signature.
"New executive orders restricting the Second Amendment are being drafted, while increased federal spending on Obamacare is readied. Meanwhile, our allies across the world are swiftly losing faith in America's role as a global leader, empowering our enemies and leaving America in a more dangerous position. But we have hope it can be different ... ."
It was a roll call of all the nightmarish things that Republicans fear a Clinton presidency would do: create a 'liberal' majority on the Supreme Court, raise taxes, bring in gun control, and spend more money on health care for poor Americans. Kasich, of course, was the 'Only Hope' to prevent this disaster. (It was his video, after all.)

BEIJING, May 8 (Xinhua) -- By lecturing Donald Trump, a near-lock Republican presidential nominee and archrival of his party's front-runner Hillary Clinton, about the seriousness of U.S. presidency, President Barack Obama has pulled his weight in the general election.
However, his wording used to defend the "seriousness" of the White House has decayed the credibility of his lecture, because the presidential election is anything but serious. In other words, the election has become a reality show.
Choosing a president for the world's most powerful country does give the election some inborn nature of seriousness. However, the way its players run it did -- if not all -- turn one of the smartest design in U.S. history into a reality show, which is full of money politics, verbal confrontation and plot reversals.
Money alone surely cannot guarantee the ticket for the White House, but without money you don't even have the chance to start the journey.
