"Why didnt Bernie get me? Well, theres electability: I just dont believe Americans are ready for a 74-year-old self-described socialist with a long far-left CV who would raise their taxes by quite a lot. By the time the Republicans got finished with him, hed be the love child of Rosa Luxemburg and the Ayatollah Khomeini, and then its hello, President Trump. Theres the question, too, of how much Bernie could actually accomplish. Would he make an effective president, as I think Hillary willall the more so now that shes been forced to see that a significant part of the Democratic electorate is to her left?"

(4,311 posts)which is why the Dems coalescing is always like herding cats.
The GOP has no such compunction about marching its collective ass down to the polls on voting day and voting R no matter who. But I hope that will start to break down with Trump.

(4,311 posts)I'm almost more worried about the midterms in 2018 than I am the GE this year. I don't think I can take 8 more years of Republican obstructionism.

(20,411 posts)not a leader at all - if he was he would have senators lining up to support him as qualified to be President. And he could not, in 25 years, garner the votes to support his legislative efforts.
Sure he passed a lot of amendments - but those were on the coattails of those who had support.
and do not dismiss the need for management. Hillary will be facing a tough congress and will need to "manage" that relationship as well as a cabinet that will be involved with many global issues.

(4,451 posts)If we do not support Bernie we are ignorant?

(13,452 posts)Ignorance seems to project fault as well as being unknowing, miss-educated, mal-educated, ... . I do not wish to imbue fault upon readers. I do wish at times to castigate some writers who should by their occupation be more educated in the subject they present.
This idea that our socialized taxation goes eight times more to corporations than we give to the needy. That we use that socialized tax wealth to bail banks, but not homeowners stems from our increasing plutocracy and diminishing democracy. It is indicative of our undemocratic socialism.
With words, it is one thing to hit the target accurately. It just looks better when it is an arrow going through the center rather than a well timed hand grenade hitting that same exact spot.
Forgive me? I assure you that any person would know more than I do about something.

RE: "Shes been forced to see that a significant part of the Democratic electorate is to her left." Whoop-dee-doo.
George W. Bush knew that many Americans were to his left. That did nothing to moderate his policies.
