(5,946 posts)a democrat, but because they said I had died. They sent me an apology e-mail but never said how they found out I died, since, well I did die, but only for a few minutes, No death certificate was filed, no obituary was produced and my ex-husband still put my name on a mortgage because my credit rating was better than his. Creep, fixed immediately when I found out. .

(3,335 posts)to request a ballot by mail. We had an election a little while back and my husband and I received a notice in the mail then that we would have to vote by mail for that election as there was not going to be a local polling station in our area. I thought that this was strange and I was going to follow up on it to see if this was a one time only thing or was this going to be permanent, and I forgot, since after all, I don't live on the moon or some otherwise remote location. Your email reminded me that I needed to follow up on that letter we received. FTR, I don't like voting by mail. I want to know that my vote goes in the voting box and gets counted on that day, and not treated as some provisional ballot.

(3,335 posts)My husband and I were going to be out of town on election day and took advantage of early voting here in California. I could have voted by mail, but I knew that was going to be a provisional ballot, so my husband and I made the 90 mile drive from our home to the voter's registrar's office on a Saturday because it was the only place offering early voting, and I wanted an actual voting ballot and not a provisional ballot. Obama won and I was happy to have the opportunity to cast my vote for him.
