2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumSo, I am watching Bibi Netanyahu and I feel like I am being lectured to - as an American
and I find it a little offensive. I support Israel and I don't like the tone he is taking. Am I the only one who feels this way?
He basically is telling the United States how to deal with Iran - keeps talking about CLEAR RED LINES. We can't do that - we can't show our hand. I am not a military strategist here - but am I right???
Edit: Now he is holding up a ridiculous diagram that looks like a "bomb" from the Itchy and Scratchy show - trying to show different stages of Uranium Enrichment. He probably got it copied at Kinkos an hour ago. He keeps beating his lecturn with the cheesey poster. He just whipped out a red sharpie and drew, wait for it, A RED LINE!
Faint applause here and there - probably from APAC

(9,494 posts)You can tell he has never been in a Science Fair!
Walk away
(9,494 posts)as it did with the (then) USSR because Iranians are basically religious fanatics with a culture of suicide bombings. Then he says that drawing a clear red line will somehow stop them.
He just flipped within 5 minutes! Is he related to Mitt Romney?
Also: nice Bomb Chart!

(2,393 posts)whatever that is . . . Does he not get that he doesn't get to tell the United States to send our brothers, sisters, sons, daughters, husbands, wives to war???

(13,468 posts)Though I'm sure Mitt Romney would be kissing his if elected. Netanyahu is Israel's mistake. Hopefully he won't get a bunch of his citizens killed before they can elect someone with more sense.

(19,458 posts)and the Fox News folks are all too happy to exploit this, even if it means a nuclear war. As long at the billionaires get their tax cuts.
I'm tired of America being dragged around by Israel. I support them in that I don't want to see people attack them, but I don't support their horrific treatment of the Palestinians, and they absolutely CONSTANT agressive attitude, and insistance on dragging America into their problems.

(2,393 posts)And from what I can tell on the news, the citizens of Israel are not exactly in agreement with Bibi on going to war again. The Israelis deserve some to live for any peace they can find. I think his defense minister , Ehud Barak (?) disagrees with Bibi too. I know that Obama will not let Bibi bully the United States into war.

(2,393 posts)I found it very patronizing. He mentioned Al Quaeda several times - in an effort to scare Americans into war. I don't like it when other countries tell us what to do.

(552 posts)but I don't think he said anything that had to do with swaying our election at all. Do you guys really think Obama would not also support a strike on Iran? Of course he would. I really hope it doesn't come to that. He certainly was a bit patronizing, but in fairness he was only doing his duty and job to Israel. When the US or any other country feels threatened and makes a big speech like this they also are quite patronizing and a bit simplistic. It's the nature of politics I suppose.

(26,514 posts)and his bullshit tough guy attitude in general. And I've made the same comment reg. both bushes Hussein and these jackasses who are so quick and so "brave" in sending others to do the killing and dying for them.

(9,494 posts)This is the pact he made with Adelson/Romney. They think this is their chance to gain votes and make Obama look bad.
Texas Lawyer
(350 posts)is having the (intended or unintended?) effect of turning bipartisan support for Israel into a partisan issue. This is a Repub strategy to try to polarize the Jewish vote (and it works with morons like Sheldon Adelson), and Netanyahu is unfortunately playing into the Repub's hands which is vastly against Israel's interest.

(10,953 posts)Israeli soldier killed during the Entebbe Raid. His family released a book of letters he wrote over a long period of time. I read the book a long time ago and found him to be an interesting person. He came to realize that it would not work in the long time for Israel to be perpetually at war with the Arab countries and it seemed like he really longed for peace. This is the impression I came away of him after reading his letters.

(24,460 posts)however that image is silly beyond all belief and really sucks out all of the "credibility" that he had on what is a serious, albeit far from imminent, problem. I mean, this is grade-school stuff. How embarrassing!
powergirl
(2,393 posts)whipped out that chart. He kept accidentally hitting the microphone with it and it would make crashing sounds. It was as stupid live as it is in the picture. He had the poster behind the lecturn and he pulled it out like a magician. I am sure the Israeli public burried their faces in their hands and whispered "Sweet Jesus" (lol) when they saw it.

(24,460 posts)this is the guy a "President Romney" would pick up the phone to call for advice about Israel/ME. Double It's hard to look at a picture like this and take him seriously anymore IMHO.

(17,718 posts)I generally am supportive of Israel, But this guy is too much. I think this behavior should cost Israelis dearly. They do not dictate to the hand that feeds them. they need to know , any war they start, they are on their own
