Clinton: My opponent's plan is to give free education to everybody

My opponent's plan is to give free education to everybody. I think we should take our money and focus it on the families who really need the help. --Hillary Clinton

Now, I wonder where I have heard that before....Faux News? Perhaps Secretary Clinton could get a job as a Right Wing spin doctor after this is all over.

1817
A petition presented in the Boston Town Meeting calls for establishing of a system of free public primary schools. Main support comes from local merchants, businessmen and wealthier artisans. Many wage earners oppose it, because they don't want to pay the taxes.

1820
First public high school in the U.S., Boston English, opens.

1827
Massachusetts passes a law making all grades of public school open to all pupils free of charge.

There is always the "I just made it to the castle and am now pulling up the draw bridge after me because me and mine no longer need it" crowd that sees no value to themselves in a better overall society.

Private school kids would still pay sticker price; that defuses one of Hillary's common complaints about Bernie's plan, that she doesn't want Trump's kids going to college on the taxpayer's dime. They all went to private schools (UPenn and Georgetown).

Bernie also wants to reduce student loan interest rates.

REASON FOR ALERT

This post is disruptive, hurtful, rude, insensitive, over-the-top, or otherwise inappropriate.

ALERTER'S COMMENTS

This is a fake post and the goal is to make Bernie supporters look bad. We don't need this stuff on DU. We can win honestly.

You served on a randomly-selected Jury of DU members which reviewed this post. The review was completed at Fri Jan 22, 2016, 12:53 AM, and the Jury voted 0-7 to LEAVE IT.

Juror #1 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Flatly put, I don't believe the alerter is a Bernie supporter. Interest new alert strategy though! And if Clinton doesn't want to be called right-wing, maybe she shouldn't sound like a Republican.
Juror #2 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE

Juror #4 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Either Hillary Clinton said that, or she didn't.

She tried to take a page out of Bernie's campaign and said something to the effect that she didn't want middle class voters paying for Donald Trump's kids to go to college.

It's like telling people they should oppose single-payer because someone wealthier might get healthcare.

Just another way she's clueless. She seems to think it's about people being angry at the wealthy for what they don't have, when most people just want fair opportunities for their families to do well enough that life is not so damn difficult.
