Now, I wonder where I have heard that before....Faux News? Perhaps Secretary Clinton could get a job as a Right Wing spin doctor after this is all over.

(16,368 posts)I'll be damned if I can find it in the tweet. All I get is a still picture and the tweet is from a CNN reporter, not from anyone remotely connected to Senator Sanders.

(2,472 posts)You keep saying the OP is "fake" and that we can win "honestly," but the only person I see in this entire thread who is being dishonest is you and your claims which every other poster disputes. Then you sent an alert? Geez, Maybe you're just having a bad night or something, but I think you owe the OP a big apology and you should self delete your accusations.

(16,368 posts)And yeah. That's what she said to the kid.

(11,366 posts)That is what she said.
Or are you arguing a different point and we've mistook what you're saying?
We're all Bernie supporters, so we should settle this!

(14,177 posts)I saw the clip several times. You keep saying this even after other posters have said they saw the clip and that is what she said. So the video is fake or it's not. Prove the video is fake, instead of repeatedly saying the OP is fake. I have also read the OP over and over again and it looks very much like a real OP.
cui bono
(19,926 posts)I heard her say that in the video. What do you think she said? Did you watch it?

(6,282 posts)Did I mistake a "who" for "that"? I admit, I may have transcribed that incorrectly.
Anyway, what's your problem? The meaning is unchanged. She sounds like a Republican fear-mongering about big-spending liberals.
kas125
(2,472 posts)"Yeah, so, but you know, that's my opponent's plan is give free education to everybody. I think we should take our money and focus it on families that really need the help." So, the OP left out the stammering "yeah, so, but you know" which actually made her sound better than the actual video.
JonLeibowitz
(6,282 posts)didn't know how to transcribe the stammering.
kas125
(2,472 posts)is pretty hard to comprehend, especially when it keeps being repeated. She said exactly what you said she did, so I don't get the chastising and claim that you weren't being honest.

A petition presented in the Boston Town Meeting calls for establishing of a system of free public primary schools. Main support comes from local merchants, businessmen and wealthier artisans. Many wage earners oppose it, because they don't want to pay the taxes.
1820
First public high school in the U.S., Boston English, opens.
1827
Massachusetts passes a law making all grades of public school open to all pupils free of charge.
There is always the "I just made it to the castle and am now pulling up the draw bridge after me because me and mine no longer need it" crowd that sees no value to themselves in a better overall society.
We evolved physically much more than we evolved in other ways.

Though I don't support her, there are a lot of ways to make her case, coherently and with dignity.
I mean, she doesn't have to be like this.

(81,801 posts)I've had enough arguments with him to know that. It's not clear to me that she is saying "free". I thought he said "continuing education".

(9,314 posts)Isn't that correct? People would still pay to go to private schools.
Sam
JonLeibowitz
(6,282 posts)Private school kids would still pay sticker price; that defuses one of Hillary's common complaints about Bernie's plan, that she doesn't want Trump's kids going to college on the taxpayer's dime. They all went to private schools (UPenn and Georgetown).
Bernie also wants to reduce student loan interest rates.

(44,743 posts)need the help and give them... free education.
I swear to God only a republican would bitch about helping the American people. Some families that need help are burdened down with student debt from the loans they made to get an...education.

(14,514 posts)on this very blog who are turning 65 and having their Social Security garnished because they owe fucking student loans. Forever loans.
Predatory capitalism at its best.
Here's the thing - we need to just once use our tax money for stuff that actually benefits us, not oligarchs. Thinks like single payer, really strong Social Security and free tuition at public colleges and universities. You bet.
Because you know who 'needs the help???'
US, that's who.

(9,688 posts)On Fri Jan 22, 2016, 12:34 AM an alert was sent on the following post:
Clinton: My opponent's plan is to give free education to everybody
http://www.democraticunderground.com/12511044530
REASON FOR ALERT
This post is disruptive, hurtful, rude, insensitive, over-the-top, or otherwise inappropriate.
ALERTER'S COMMENTS
This is a fake post and the goal is to make Bernie supporters look bad. We don't need this stuff on DU. We can win honestly.
You served on a randomly-selected Jury of DU members which reviewed this post. The review was completed at Fri Jan 22, 2016, 12:53 AM, and the Jury voted 0-7 to LEAVE IT.
Juror #1 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Flatly put, I don't believe the alerter is a Bernie supporter. Interest new alert strategy though! And if Clinton doesn't want to be called right-wing, maybe she shouldn't sound like a Republican.
Juror #2 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #3 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #4 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Either Hillary Clinton said that, or she didn't.
If she didn't, the alerter ought to explain exactly what Hillary Clinton did say.
After all, the video is provided.
This is a grotesque alert.
Juror #5 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #6 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #7 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: I've watched and listened to the clip included in the tweet and nothing looks doctored. The OP is quoting what Secretary Clinton said to an attendee at one of her events.
Thank you very much for participating in our Jury system, and we hope you will be able to participate again in the future.

(1,786 posts)But what would be the problem with that? Slash a few percentage points from the pentagons budget (I read not long ago that ~ $8.5 trillion over the last 20ys cannot be unaccounted for by the pentagon) that is easily enough money to offer every American an AA or even a BA degree if they wanted to do the commitment required to get one.
loyalsister
(13,390 posts)She tried to take a page out of Bernie's campaign and said something to the effect that she didn't want middle class voters paying for Donald Trump's kids to go to college.
It's like telling people they should oppose single-payer because someone wealthier might get healthcare.
Just another way she's clueless. She seems to think it's about people being angry at the wealthy for what they don't have, when most people just want fair opportunities for their families to do well enough that life is not so damn difficult.

(975 posts)You've told a portion of people they didn't need health care coverage and could wait. Now you're telling them you're not going to work towards free college tuition. Baffling strategy she's got there.
