New Poll has Obama down by only 7 in Tennessee (he lost by 15 in 2008)

(Now I don't expect Obama to win Tennessee, but I do consider this good news because it indicates that Rmoney isn't running as well as he should in the 'red states'. A poll also showed Rmoney leading by only 3 in Arizona):

In Tennessee, Republican Presidential challenger Mitt Romney holds a seven point lead over Democratic incumbent Barack Obama, 49% Romney to 42% Obama, in a poll of 789 registered voters statewide, conducted by YouGov.

In Tennessee:
Partisan loyalty is strong on both sides, as 91% of Democrats are sticking with Obama and 90% of Republicans are voting for Romney.
Independents are leaning heavily towards Romney, 54% for Romney and 28% for Obama.
Women favor Obama by 47%-44%, while men favor Romney by 55%-36%.
Obama has a strong lead in Memphis/ West (62%-32%), and all other regions currently favor Mitt Romney.
Older voters age 65+ favor Romney (69%-26%). All those under age 45 favor Obama, with the youngest age 18-29 (52%-37%) and those age 30-44 (51%-38%) producing similar results.

1. Trustworthy pollster?

Does it have a good record?

I also notice it is a poll of registered voters, but that doesn't mean it isn't still a decent poll.

Bill Clinton was the last Democrat to win the state in 1996, and I think Hillary Clinton can do so if she runs in 2016.

7. It's surprising to see Romney with half the lead that McCain got on election day

But there may indeed be some clues that Romney is not going to finish as high as McCain there:

1. There have been a couple of other Tennessee polls this year showing mediocre support for Romney.

2. He lost the primary to Rick Santorum, so there may be some resistance to him from conservatives.
