http://www.dailykos.com/story/2016/01/19/1471588/-Nate-Bernie-Sanders-is-the-only-candidate-in-either-party-with-a-net-positive-favorability-ratingFixed the link, and the header. It is the author's opinion on Sanders beating Trump, but it is Nate's findings that Sanders is the only candidate with a net positive favoribilty rating. The Rabble just don't like or trust Hillary....

(5,668 posts)I like the fact you made me think during a tension headache (have had one off an on for a week and a half. getting rear ended when it started the day before hand didn't help much kinda easy to fix the link once someone said there's a kaboom problem. I play with links all the time. usually to find hidden pictures. but sometimes because some nut added a space or a . in the wrong spot. I tend to be a trouble shooter so I probably would have figured out Kaboom was a problem
Still that last debate probably changed everything. She shouldn't have acted so cold. Bill's smile generally seems genuine but hillary's is smile is like rather forced. and again you can't win without the independents and I guess my Independent side has been showing more so certain people who thought I was rather left wing are looking at me a bit better nowadays. Some Republicans I know actually don't mind Bernie but they sure have a harsh opinion of Hillary even if I consider her Conservative and they think she's Liberal. eh maybe she used to be but not now and not in the past decade. And anyone who sends their daughter out to do their dirty work is asking for trouble. Palin knows all about that and keeps sending Bristol out. No wonder she's had 2 kids outside of marriage. Works off the tension by sleeping around

The man speaks truth net favorabilty is a big factor. Where is that lovely chart of past presidential wins that has that as the factor?

If you have any lingering doubt about what I am saying, refer to this table and ask yourself, is the Corporate Media correct in declaring who is "electable" and who is "unelectable":

I suppose this is why he's calling it his personal opinion rather than his expert opinion.

(642 posts)The author of the article on Daily Kos said that and while referencing a quote from NS.
This is the original article from FiveThirtyEight that contains the quote.

(16,420 posts)I could see us in November with the economy on fire and some major act of terrorism which has taken place. Trump is standing there saying I told you so. and leading in the polls. The more I think about it, the more I believe Hillary Clinton is not electable. Sanders is very insulated from the things going on in the world and, in fact, he will be the one standing there saying I told you so.
Looking at it again, I think this quote is by the author, mikevadon, building on what Nate Silver said.
Again nothing wrong with having that thought but it certainly isn't Nate's quote.
BlueState
(642 posts)The headline of this post is disingenuous. Nate Silver is quoted as saying Bernie is the only candidate that has net positive favorability rating.
It is the author of the article who states:
"My personal thought is the only way to win against Trump is with Bernie Sanders. I feel like the economy is getting worse and a recession is very possible at this point."

(95,337 posts)Hillary needs a young VP that can get the crowd engaged. If she brings in one of the Castro brothers she would be unbeatable in the general election.
People cite the 2000/2004 election about how the voters weren't excited about Gore and Kerry. There is reason for that - Gore and Kerry both picked dismal VPs that brought nothing to the table. Obama was the excitement but needed experience which is why he brought someone like Biden in for his ticket. That pairing work. A great Pres/VP ticket has one candidate with the experience combined with one candidate that brings excitement to the ticket (but is well qualified. Palin was suppose to be the 'excitement' but was hardly qualified)
Hillary does have excitement, I'll be happy to campaign for her and equally as much as I would for Sanders or O'Malley. But I think that Hillary needs to learn from 2000/2004 that if she picks a boring VP choice she will lose voters. (Same with O'Malley and even Sanders). We have a great opportunity to reach out to either Hispanic voters or African-American voters with a choice like the one of the Castro brothers or perhaps even Senator Cory Booker. If we ignore minority voters then it will hurt us.

(95,337 posts)Biden is out and my primary is late in the season. Plus with 3 electoral votes hardly anyone cares who wins Delaware other than us Delawareans.
She could very well win it or maybe something will happen and O'Malley will. I'll be happy to campaign like crazy for whomever that final nominee is including Bernie. I adore all of them.

(20,755 posts)Nate Silver said nothing of the sort.
A Kos diarist chose to interpret a Silver article on Trump's favorability that way.
Every marketer knows the real key to success: UNDER-promise and OVER-deliver.
Increasing the noise-to-signal ratio is counter-productive, to say the least.

(94,384 posts)Nate Silver did not say "My personal feeling is that the only way to beat Trump is with Bernie Sanders". That was a statement by the blogger (mikevadon) made after posting a quote from Silver about Sanders' favorability.

(267 posts)Hillary Clinton's favorability rating is -8. There's only two GOPers that have ratings that are significantly better than hers, and neither of them are as well know as her. One of them is Carson, who will likely drop out after Iowa.
Trump's rating is 27% with independents.
Hillary Clinton would crush Trump in the General Election.

(650 posts)And the comment "the professional left can only win by lying" is so ironic coming from a Hillary supporter. Those kinds of smears won't fly because "the left" is very well informed.
